Wild 101 Confirmed Change TO Z101!!!

;D

It is confirmed Wild101 Has switch over to Z101 branded name, other Z stations i know are

z100 inNY
Z103.5 in toronto

is far as a format goes or any else it seems the same, i checked out the website.

www.z101.fm.

What is the furture only time will tell.....

Is this a complete makeover or just a dye-job? Hard to tell if it's anything more than lipstick on a pig. The station sounds pretty good, but who outside of this board, really cares that much. The other thing I hear on their bumpers, sometimes the "Z" sounds like "C" and seriously, shouldn't they be calling themselves Zed-101? It's a Canadian station. They should be serving Canada first, not Buffalo. Call it Zed 101 and be proud!

Actually, in the case of Toronto's zee I grant benifet of the doubt because it seperates them from the old Zed 97.3 FM.
As for 101 they may as well move over to 101.3 (if they can) so they can be "zee 101.3" then...

Re: Word Association

Benefit of the doubt...not what ever the heck i was typing there...sorry.

Interesting note: When Z103 first came about, their Z sounded like C at times too.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz101 huh, did i fall asleep?? same jocks, same voice guy and girl, same newscasts, same sound, same simple plan and avril lavigne (every track ever released), same boring station.

Why do the words "lipstick" and "pig" suddenly come to mind?

Probably because sparechange posted it above.

I believe that Sparechange has clearly grasped the obvious in this case.

http://yes.com/station/CKEY

Two BNL songs in the same hour too. (9:07 and 9:46am)
I can't complain though.
At least they weren't back to back.

Noon mix show still has Wild101 sweepers in it. Looks like Universal still needs some cleanup. what other kiss jocks can he take? froggy, keith kelly, jenny wade (now taylor K). Also, check out the Wild 101 poll, on the z101 web site. One should be prepared when you try to give a makeover to a troll.

observer11, and Observation(s), 2 in fact :

RE:
observer11, i think the *OBVIOUS * kiss-jock, u missed
in your list, donnie walker, like or not - it seems pretty
logical, he will be a part of the team...oh, say memorial day wk'end,
or the Can-Am/friendship fest week ( 07/01 - 07/04 ).

second,
observations:
seems, theThing, 11 posts young *yesterday, i Believe he posted,
this is not april fool's joke, if i could, i would scan the MEMO *WE*
were given, etc....and today,

theThing, seems to be a "casual" listener, just "browsing" the website...hmm ?

-
i wish i posted this last week !
oops, i have talked to a few jocks, now and again at wild..even
called in to be the "famous" "Caller #10! " anyways, about 10 days ago,
639-WILD, ( as mentioned several times, on-aire) to call-IN and WIN!
( doo,doo-doo, the number u reached: six,three,nine..."wild" is no longer in service...)

hmmm....i was going to post it - but CKEY not paying a ph. bill, to serve US listeners
doesnt exactly set the world on fire, and ultimately, most likely would just have people
here 'ripp' me a new one !! haha.

well, now the bigger picture is in focus...soo, z101 ?! huh...how many other friends,(here)
say, north of welland, are "programmed" to hear...zee, one oh *THREE* it almost sounds like...
the z103, cluster acquired z101 in niagara falls...esp. to the average listener !!

down the road, some [c]"KEY" ( sorry bad pun) / some key set ups can be created
with CKEY, becoming z101. how u ask ?

the "Z" FM - concert of the summer !!!!!!!!!!
(in niagara falls: zeeee, 101's summerRush : )
(in toronto: z103, presents summerRush!! : )

of course, z..(103) would take some $$ of the top, for "naming rights"!

c/o Observer 11:

:::::::Shelly Wade.

Immediately, I was thinking, almost instantly
( first time heard her voice on the wild-run, down)
and then later some air time...
well, she always NAILS!!! every thing, on-aire!
-so, i thought, she must be a "radio pro"

and, then u posted , shelly wade, aka...taylor K
(is this taylor K , of chum-fm 'fame?' )

Jenny wade, formerly of kiss pajama party, can't use "wade" cause of shelly so universal obviously made her change to taylor kaye and rip off the toronto taylor. you're right about donny, not sure why he's not there now. love ludacris into OMD if you leave.

...you're right about donny, not sure why he's not there now.

Donny may not be working at CKEY because (1) he's U.S. citizen and it takes some time to get the proper work visa in Canada (2) he may be working off a non-compete, with or without compensation which does not allow him to work, or (3) he's not interested.

I concur with the "lipstick on a pig" premise and some of the "Z" imaging sounding like "C" imaging mentioned in an earlier post. This is especially evident when "Wild 101" imaging appears out of the blue.

Format and name changes are not as easy as some people may think. There are lots of details that need to be worked out, as is evident when "Wild" imaging runs in place of "Z" imaging.

One more thing. What's with the "Z" thing? It always seemed "CKEY" were cool call letters (especially years ago when they were assigned to 590 AM.) Why not "Y-101?"
"K-101" or "Key 101?"

"Z?" Feh! Zero! When I first heard this "Z" thing, I thought it was an April Fool's Day prank.

I think there's probably a little more to the picture then anyone would know or think to this change.... ???

There's alot of little details that maybe overlooked, sure little mistakes here and there, but the overall picture is there..  previous playlists that attracted a certain demographic but to expand their image to be a positive image is certainly a positive that can't be over looked here....

Im sure if you were not looking they way you wanted in life, you would change aspects to yourself in ways to appeal to more............

That's my uneducated 2 cents on it all...

Nothing says "Today's Hit Music" like playing BNL songs from 9-10 years ago, six-year-old Sarah MacLachlan songs, and a five-year-old song by Avril Lavigne. Don't forget 1995's "You Learn" from Alanis. Give them credit for not playing "Black Velvet" though and for sticking to CanCon regulations. I guess some things will never change.

BTW...I don't think whoever suggested "Taylor Kaye" for a new on-air handle for Jenny Wade (Jen Cohen) did their research very well. I'm sure the real Taylor Kaye is much older but who's to say there won't be a little puzzlement to an individual that listens to both CHUM-FM and Z101?

It's always the details that make the difference. Anybody who's ever worked in the biz knows it's all about details. Good jocks and PD's take care of the details. There's no such thing as "little things" because NOT taking care of the "little things" can kill a station.

Huh?

For one of the few times (must be the full moon), I agree with Radknowski. We've had our differences and I call him out in the Rochester thread. But the reference to "posting on the NYC" board is pretzel logic.

Here's the reality of the situation. CKEY gets into Buffalo, but most of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls-Rochester-Western New York-USA posters really don't care about the station (other than to write about how inept it is) and apparently neither do most listeners according to the latest Buffalo-Niagara Falls Arbitrons. Nothing personal, nothing anti-Canadian, nothing nasty.

Posting about CKEY interfering with Toronto stations near the Pearson Airport on the Buffalo-Rochester board doesn't bother me in the least... but it does seem better suited to the Toronto board.

BTW, when it refers to FM, it's not called "skip," it's called "picket fencing" or "adjacent channel interference." "Skip" better refers to a guy who lives on Allentown (Buffalo) or AM long distance reception.

The DX terms applicable and relevant to FM are either "E-skip" or "tropo(spheric) ducting". Both involve reception of stations from several hundred to more than 1,000 miles away -- far beyond the line-of-sight physics that usually apply to FM.

For example, in the past two years, during E-skip openings I received FM stations from Columbus, GA and Norfolk, NE -- while listening on my car radio in Allentown, PA. The Nebraska station was strong enough to overpower WHYY FM in Philadelphia, only 60 miles distant.
