Allaccess:
CLEAR CHANNEL MEDIA + ENTERTAINMENT/SAN ANTONIO has launched a Rhythmic Top 40 simulcast of WiLD 92.5 and WiLD 105.7, "SAN ANTONIO’s Party Station." For starters, the stations will play 10,000 Hip-Hop songs in a row.

Suppose to Rhythmic Top 40 but they just played Finding Clyde- Get Higher?

IMO, smart move on CC part but Cox should have flipped 106.7 when the rumor mill came out about Hot 106.7.

I doubt this station will get much attention. It's just a "flanker" to protect Mix from KBBT and KTFM, almost like what Party 97-7 was in 2011.

Anyway, as promised on an earlier thread, here's your aircheck - I recorded this with an MP3 player off of 105.7. I've covered a couple minutes before the flip to just about an hour after it happened.

Songs are pretty sped up like on Mix and the playlist is very tight. I've heard a couple songs three or four times in three hours already! I hope they'll expand it.

As for the audio quality, it's in mono and not perfectly compressed either. But I also expect them to fix that up as well in the next few days.

At least we have ten thousand songs in a row!

It would be good as long as they put on NEW music and not keep the old all the time like all the other stations do.

And if they play some more real hip-hop unlike KBBT who only plays top 40 with maybe one or two hip-hop songs thrown in.

Wild is definitely a flanker station but if the music is good, people will listen.

As for 106.7, this might have just sealed the deal for Cox to go straight up against Mix 96.1 and KTFM.

Fun times if your young and love some good radIo battles. ;)

I liked it better when it was called Hot 92.5. ;D

But Cox might steal that name for 106.7. They should just call it Wild 105, IMO...

And as for 92.5, start that comedy format up like they originally planned.

They aught to sound like Wild 104 down in the Valley. And not to be afraid to put in NEW hip hop when it comes out. Keep it fresh!

Wild fixed their audio and is now broadcasting in stereo. Still lots of repetition though.

And they' really hate The Beat and Xavier's World - they've got liners calling out 98.5 on their commercials and Xavier's World on their "doing the same crap over and over" and their "fake Carmen Calls".

From Wild's Twitter:
"RT @saiswild: Mornin. Did you know @xaviersworld is so damn old that the fire department is on standby when we light his birthday candles? #truth"

"RT @saiswild: It's currently 2:22PM and @thebeat985 is still playing commercials. #wildones #sanantonio #justsayin"

"RT @saiswild: Ever see that creepy old man at the club? Oh, whadup @Xaviersworld. #awkward"

Xavier and The Beat are pretty much ignoring everything over there - just blocking people who retweet Wild, including me. Oh well. :(

What's the old saying? Never wrestle with a pig. You'll get dirty and the pig likes it.

The Beat has nothing to gain by acknowledging party... I mean wild.

Damn, I was hoping it would be WOAI 92.5/105.7, back to the AM dial for the daily dose of talk shows.

Well there is still hope for Classic Country on 106.7, or Chuck-FM. If they are Chuck for 106.7 I hope they do a 9 @ 9 like Bob in Austin.

Now would be a good time for Cox to do a little payback on CC, by reviving KSJL on 106.7!

I'm all for 680 to simulcast onto 106.7.

Gotta love Wild for slamming on The Beat!!! KTFM is also doing the samething with Kidd Kraddick @ Mix 96.1.

Btw KevenGC, Wild going 100% Hip Hop would fail. K104 is Dallas is all Hip Hop and has been struggling over the last several months. Personally, I like the mix of Hip Hop & Dance on one station.

What would they have done that got 'em suspended?
Probably that slamming on Xavier and The Beat I posted earlier. There were more I didn't include, BTW.

I see, but KTFM and KBBT already play that. Boring IMO.

And how are KBFB in Dallas and KBXX in Houston doing? Those are also Urban - (full hip-hop) stations. And you have to remember Wild is a flanker on a rimshot and translator.

Austin's 102.3 The Beat also plays Dance tracks.

Here are some quotes I found on All Access:

August 2012 18-34:

RADIO ONE Top 40/R KBFB (97.9 THE BEAT) fell out of that same group(Top 5) for the first time since MAY

Moving in the opposite direction was SERVICE Urban KKDA (K104), logging its worst book since MARCH (4.0-3.3).

One thing you have to keep in mind KevanGC, is that the demos are completely different from SA. Dallas has the demos to support an all Hip Hop station while S.A. does not. Wild 92.5/105.7 would be foolish to go all Hip Hop when that particular genre has been on the decline for the last several years. In addition, Wild is hinder by it's signal. Ninche format + Signal Problem= No Bueno
