Wild 92.5 & 105.7 San Antonio's Party Station

I say Wild is a stunt just like Austin's Mega. I predict a flip next month. Probably to Comedy.
What would be the point of putting a niche format on a rimshot/translator combo? That seems more like the kind of place to put a flanker, like Wild.

I agree. CC is using these two frequencies as a flanker. Very similar to Cox-106.7.

On a side note, I noticed The Beat has balanced out it's playlist with the electro pop/dance and Hip Hop tracks. Also, their throwbacks aka old school tracks have been updated. IMO, this is the best The Beat has sounded in years. Props to them!!!

I think K289BN is actually relayed off of Q 101.9 KQXT HD-3.

I believe you're correct. 105.7 can't legally translate 92.5 because it's too far outside of 92.5's primary signal contour.

Actually IMO, hip-hop is a bad match for AC. They'd be better off moving Wild to Mix 96.1 KXXM's HD3.

It doesn't really matter much. Not enough people are listening to HD Radio to know there's hip-hop on 101.9 HD3, and, even if they did, hip-hop fans would just save it as a preset and link directly to 101.9 HD3 while soft rock fans would just not go to the HD3 at all. There's a bit of dead air during the linking process, but you'd never have to know 101.9 was AC if you have the HD3 as a preset.

By the way, I agree with those who say Wild is a flanker attempting to head off that impending format change at 106.7. So long as it does that, I don't think you'll see all comedy show up.

CC in Austin uses a subchannel on Country KVET-FM to feed the Jammin 103.1 translator.
More evidence that it doesn't matter what the main signal is doing.

Well if the HD signal drops on my Insignia portable HD radio, it defaults to the main station, which would be AC Q101.9

Why don't they just take the risks like they used to do?

WiLD is still promoting "10,000 songs in a row". Does it really take over a month to play 10,000 songs?

Lack of sponsors. I believe the top hour id says something along the lines of "this hour of commercial free music is being sponsored by ......"

It does, and it's Clear Channel so I don't expect them to really be hurt by it. I'm happy with no commercials on WiLD. IMO they should venture out a bit more into all the rhythmic / hip-hop and dance tracks and play them, not just the ones other stations play. I've suggested a few dance tracks to them on their Facebook - Swedish House Mafia's "One Your Name", Fazer's "Killer", and DJ Fresh's "Hot Right Now" - all these I like.

Is CC considering throwing up a few digital billboards (unsold inventory on cc outdoor) to promote the station? Maybe they have in key areas?

I think that the existing ones are grandfathered in, and there is an ordinance passed by the San Antonio City Council a while back banning those, if I remember correctly. WOAI-TV did a story on those. The one downtown that shows "Larry Noll" is still there, along with the one that advertises "Incarnate Word" on I-410 near Nacodogches near the Fedex Kinko's is still there.

There are quite a few digitals 410/Bandera, Ih35/Starlight Terrace, etc...

However, digital or not, would cc develop a few unsold or expired boards to truck in a few panelists? It seems like only radio insiders and their circles make up the audience.

Probally not, they would more likely use those for their top listened to stations such as KXXM, KAJA, and WOAI.

I tuned in and heard about 5 mins of commercials today on WiLD. Guess they have sponsors now and the format's more permanent than I thought.

Funny thing is, right after the commercials and before the music, I heard the top-of-hour liner for "commercial-free music powered by SAHealthCrave.com".

I don't get why they didn't keep WOAI on 105.7. That would have made more sense than adding yet another top 40 station.

Me neither, I could easily pick up WOAI downtown on my Panasonic AM/FM Walkman on 105.7 than with AM 1200.

Apparently, WiLD now carries UTSA football. I just turned it on and heard a game. I checked their Twitter to see if they flipped, and no, I don't think they have.
Strange they've got sports on a Rhythmic CHR like that.

Where is the stream for this station? When I click on the listen live link for the station I get "Sorry, we couldn't find the station you are looking for." Where is the live stream?

No stream anymore it looks like. http://krpt-fm.akacast.akamaistream.net/7/880/20105/v1/auth.akacast.akamaistream.net/krpt-fm

The above used to be the WiLD stream, but is now playing Country music. The metadata in it still says Swedish House Mafia, Eminem, etc. Perhaps the switch to the new audio isn't complete.

Not only that but the KBuc website for 92.5 isn't even live yet. And the website for WiLD still says "92.5 and 105.7" along with all the social network accounts. Is someone just incredibly lazy at CC not changing the name or is this KBuc not permanent?

I've been wondering the samething but according to Wild's Facebook, the steam should be corrected soon.
Oh, and Wild's Facebook now says, Wild 105.7.
