WILD 939 Lima is GONE

Considering some people in Columbus can pick it up and/or are familiar with 939.

Inside sources at CC have provided me with this information:

Wild 939 becomes 93-9 Kiss FM at 12:00 am tonight.

Website: 939kisslima.com
Number: 419-879-KISS
Jocks will still be around but don't be surprised if the music is from Premium Choice CHR.

You can see a preview now at http://wild939.com/iplaylist/playlist.html?last10=1 (goes right to the new KISS site)

Sad to see Lima's powerhouse turn into another corporate mistake.

It is quite sad. It was a great Rhythmic CHR. The new imaging and jingles are alright, but it's nothing like the OLD WiLD back when it was full staffed. They're pretty down-the-line Mainstream CHR. Their playlist doesn't 100% follow Prem Choice which is good. It's pretty recurrent/gold-heavy which can be okay to break up repetitiveness, but it's still sad that Renee, the PD, isn't all-local. At least there's no Prem Choice jocks!

wEL, IF YOU COULD HEAR IT WHEN THE ATMOSPHERE IS RIGHT IN COLUMBUS...YOU WONT ANYMORE..WILKS HAS TO PUT THEIR GD TRANSLATOR UP ON 94.1..CUZ YOU KNOW...THERE'S A BIG AUDIENCE OF CLASSIC COUNTRY DOWNTOWN...

Which is why you said you would file a complaint with the FCC on the other topic Wilson1000...?

I live just outside Bellefontaine, and can BARELY get 93.9 here. Do you get it in Columbus like 3 days a year? Your complaint will do no good whatsoever, seeing how the service contour of 93.9 barely makes it out of Hardin and Allen counties. 93.9's transmitter is about 10 miles north of Lima, which doesn't help you at all. Here's my proof: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=FM1028092.html

The closest frequency you could complain to the FCC about interference is 94.3 out of Marion and Chillicothe, which you wouldn't do because both of those channels interfere with each other in Columbus and are both country! 94.3- Marion barely makes it into Delaware county and 94.3- Chillicothe doesn't even make it into Franklin county.

94.1 is open for business.

If 94.1 is so open for business, why didn't the owner of the 106.7 translator that got knocked off by Radio 106.7 apply for it? Or even someone like CD101?

How ya doing, Chad? I hope well. It sounds like you have a bone to pick with me...and frankly, I could care less. You're thesis/assumption about the 94.1 translator rebroadcasting Wilks 95.5 is unsubstantiated. I merely said that if their translator does what it did at their prior station located at 102.3..then I will report them to the FCC. Plain......and simple. If I want to listen to Kiss 93.9 then I will do so online when in Columbus. And yes, on a fairly regular basis one can listen to wbks at the post office parking lot right off henderson and high....it's a fact.

The reason you can't listen/pick up 93.9 in Bellefontaine is that the Cedarville University translator on 94.1 broadcasts on Campbell Hill. Probably not far from where you live or work. Either that or you have one crappy receiver. That could be a possibility too :)

Naw, I wont complain about Marion at 94.3 or Celina at 94.3 or WFCJ or WQIO at 93.7 or the fine operation in Russels Point at 93.5. They are all in compliance with FCC spacing requirements:)

Anyhow, Chad...God Bless and have a good one.

98.3

Wilson, a few questions.

What did Wilk's translator at 102.3 do?

Odd that I've never listened to 94.1. I usually scan the radio for stations. Then again, I'm not a fan of stations who preach religion. I believe what I believe and don't need to hear it over the radio. Yes, I am a Christian by the way.

What does WBKS have to do with anything? Where the heck is out out of? FCC website shows 0 records and Wikipedia shows that WBKS Huntington, West Virginia was changed to WLRX January 1st, 2010. I can believe you could get that from time to time. Their COL is Ironton, Ohio. With the receiver in my garage I can pick up 104.1 WPAY out of Portsmouth (The main reason I erected the tower) and 93.7 WDGG and sometimes even 99.3 WNXT. I'm very familiar with the Ohio River Valley.

I noticed you quoted 93.5. I don't listen much as I don't go to Indian Lake often, but I really feel that if I could interest them in some of my sound engineering, that they would sound much, much better. Same goes to WMHO out of Marysville.

I'm curious to know how you can file a complaint on a station that interrupts another station around 90 miles away? That would be like me filing a complaint to the FCC that 103.9 WTDA and 104.3 WODB both interfere with me getting 104.1 WPAY out of Portsmouth. If you live around Columbus, I'd say you're shucks out of luck. If you're from Bellefontaine (noticed you quoted 98.3. Not sure if that was the 98.3/102.1 LP out of Columbus or WPKO out of Bellefontaine,) then chances are the 94.1 translator isn't going to even dream of making it out of Franklin county. 102.3 out of Mansfield wipes 102.3 off the map until I get to Dublin, when 102.3 tries to make an appearance.

By the way Wilson, your last post sounded much more mature than your previous one. Your typing made me assume you were very young. Sorry about the attitude.

I briefly interrupt this controversy to mention that this issue has sort of a personal/nostalgic significance for me.

If a translator had been put in place at 94.1 years ago, it's likely I wouldn't be posting here at all.  (OK, OK, you can all stop saying, "darn, why didn't they do it back then!!")  That's because my interest in radio evolved from my fascination with a Cincy station at 94.1 that I dx-ed regularly.  (I also pulled in FM's from as far as Detroit fairly regularly late-nights/overnights/early-morning/after-storms using a rotating high-gain rooftop antenna.)

BTW, that mention of antennae makes me wonder whatever happened to willcail?

Anyway, now that that interruption's over, we return you to the debate...

Saw willcail a couple of days ago since he is a neighbor of mine. willcail is alive and well for those of you who are interested. Not sure why he hasn't posted here lately but I surly miss his postings. He won't even speak to me even though we have some mutual interests in radio. Found out he was a neighbor of mine through his posting on the Columbus Radio-Info board. You never know who your Radio-Info real neighbors are.

BTY Nu_Roo_2 , is antennae spelled correctly? You are the spelling genius on the board so you would know. I on the other hand, have to depend on my best friend, the spell checker. :(

gabigley1 -

Thanks for the update on willcail, though I'm sorry to hear about the snubs and hope they end soon. That's quite a coincidence that he turned out to be your neighbor.

Antennae and antennas are both acceptable plurals for antenna. Come to think of it, maybe antennas would be the more common usage in broadcasting. As for my spelling, it's perhaps a bit above average but far from perfect, especially if you throw typos into the mix (I am NOT a good typist!).

Just gave 93.9 Kiss FM a listen to via their internet feed. Image prodocts are weak at best and the stations overall sound is automated small market. Does lima also have a chr at 92 on the dial?
