Wild 95 PD

Did anybody ever get the PD job on a full time basis or is Dave still filling in? That station replaying morning drive in the afternoon is awful.

The combination of Ryan Seacrest, the Morning Show Replay, syndicated nights, and Sisenie being piped in from Los Angeles overnights makes Wild a nearly unlistenable station.

I agree, although Y100 is nearly identical in non local programming and look at their numbers. Highest in a long time. The difference with Wild is that their morning drive plays no music and then they replay in the afternoon. This is a CHR and people want music. I still can't believe they haven't dropped in a syndicated morning drive. It would save a ton.

Y is nearly as bad - I don't think they have a single live and local shift (save for the weekends). Does Michael Yo track shifts anywhere else besides Y?

Why would WILD syndicate mornings? The mornings and the station are enjoying their biggest ratings in 7 years and the morning show is number one everywhere.

WILD would syndicate mornings in order for Clear Channel to reduce Wild's budget to the lowest number possible. That is how Clear Channel operates in most markets.

Let me first say that I do not work in radio. It sounds just like all the other stations in the country. You can blame that on the computers and all the voice tracking. I like listening to radio and I am into top-40. I live in NEPA and I was born in the Hudson Valley, New York area were Chris Marino is now on WPKF 96.1fm a Clear Channel station. I was down there for VAC last month. I got to tape the station Wild 95.5 and WAOA 107.1fm. Let me say I taped WAOA 107.1 on a Sunday afternoon and it sounded like it was running in automation with no voice tracking.

1. Wild 95.5 has a live morning show and Y-100 does not. / A lot of the Clear Channel stations do not have a live morning show. I think people want to hear a live morning show in the morning. WPKF 96.1fm in Poughkeepsie has the Elvis Duran Show just like Y-100

2. Then there is Valentine and I think he is live or voice tracked. I now his air shift is very short from 10:30am to 12:00pm. I know Valentine from when he was WBHT 97.1 in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, PA.

3. Then you have Rayn Seacrest from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. I have been told that Clear Channel wants Rayn Seacrest on a station in very market. WKRZ 98.5 a Entercom station in Wilkes-Barre / Scranton, PA has Rayn Seacrest for mid-days 12:00pm - 3:00pm.

4. Now I want to know why they repeat the morning in the evening from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. They should be live at that time because they are not live for the Kane Show and over night.

5. If you want to listen to a station live 24/7 then you should be listening to WSPK 104.7 in Poughkeepise, New York becuase they are live 24/7. If you call any time of day a live person picks up the phone.

Roger, I do not mean to offend, but your arguments in Wild's favor are not all that convincing. To address some of them:
1. Wild's morning show is its only strong suit. Kevin and Virginia are excellent at what they do. And they have some Heritage, as their show has been on Wild since 2000.
2. I have been told that Valentine is actually live. I am not so sure about that, as there is no listener interaction/phones/contests/etc. Valentine, I am sure, does extensive voice-tracking in other markets. For example, I know he is on Clear Channel's Key West CHR station.
3. Ryan Seacrest's packaged program, in my opinion, is horrible. No CHR station would have been airing that garbage even 10 years ago.
4. The "Morning Show Replay" is yet another money-saving gambit. What an embarassment for a Heritage CHR station.
5. I will check out the NY station you mentioned. Chris Marino, by the way, was a very good PD at Wild. I am glad to see Chris is doing well. If I am not mistaken, prior to Wild, he worked at a bunch of stations in the Northeast, including Hartford's Kiss and Providence's WPRO-FM.

You did not offend me. We are still friends. :) When Chris Marino did mornings from August 2006 to March 2009 on WSPK 104.7 in Poughkeepise the morning show sounded like the Wild 95.5 morning show but they also played music. He was let go in March 2009 so they could bring back the old morning show host The Woodman who left in June of 2006.

ScottBurns,

Please send me at E-mail [email protected] I have a few airchecks of Chris Marino.
