Wild Child Dick Kemp

Does anyone out there in radio land know where the Wild Child Dick Kemp is living today, after WIXY, it seems like alot of people have lost track of him, I have been looking for awhile now with no luck at all. Thanks, and any info would help, last I heard he was somewhere in Alaska.

I heard that he was last in Alaska as well, but that he may have passed away. Lou King Kirby wrote me thru www.reelradio.com where I have a collection. That was years ago.

Dick Kemp passed away a number of years back.

I'm sorry...I can't recall the exact year....but, he was living in Alaska. It was something like 10 to 20 years ago. My memory on the exact year is fuzzy, but Kemp did in fact pass away.

He was a fantastic entertainer...and a real character off the air as well.

Dick Kemp was in Ketchikan AK before passing on to his great reward. I was actually up there, and struck up a conversation with him in a bar. He was pretty darned cantankerous, and didn't really have any love for the business. He wasn't the only disgruntled ex-jock up there, either. It seems like a lot of us are going to wind up, up there, alone, bitching in our beer. It's a tough, heartless business, and it will get you, if you let it.

I just came across this post while doing a google search for some old airchecks. Dick Kemp is my Dad and he's still alive and well in Alaska.

Jay, great to hear from you and to hear your dad is well. What an incredible talent he was. He's revered here in CLE for his time on WIXY. Can you fill us in his other stops during is career? Do you have airchecks of your father you'd be willing to share? Not much available, not even from WIXY.

Sure hope the news about Dick Kemp being alive is real...and am so glad the info I got was apparently wrong.
