What a waste . For a long time , Boston folks was waiting for WILD to be put on the FM dial and now they are on the FM dial , WILD-FM sound like sh-t . Tom Joyner Morning show S-cks ( Bring back Russ Parr ) . WILD-FM has no midday DJ . WILD-FM first D J on the air , come on at 2 pm . There is no D J's on WILD-FM after 10 pm ( NO local D J's From 10 pm to 2pm the next day ) . WILD-FM weekend mix show s-ck and the mix show end at 10 pm . A slow jam show without a D J ? What kind of crap is that ! And Please ! This station need to make up there mind ( Urban or Urban A/C ) , Urban Mainstream and Urban A/C on one signal is very stupid . At the office we usually find ourselves turning the station off around 3 o'clock when the station turns itself over to the kids. This week we found ourselves listening later....was the extension of the old school because Reggie Bees wasn't on the air?

Back to your post, your points are valid. I question the lack of female DJs, which do very well with urban AC, and mature DJs in general, and a jockless slow jam show. But I do like the Tom Joyner Morning Show. Brining back Russ Parr would be setting the station back to the Hip Hop direction.

Amen to that. They took a great station (1090 WILD), moved it to FM and blew it up! Radio One absolutely sucks! I myself had been waiting for the longest time for Boston to have an Urban AC on FM and this is what we get? They finally move WILD to FM and totally destroy it. They have got to be the most stupid radio corperation around. What I can't believe is that these idiots still think they can beat Jamn 94.5! That's why they are still playing rap.<P ID="signature">______________

I dno't understand the programming mix. They just played Sylvester and now Teddy Pendergrass is on. In a few hours the station will give way to Kanye West JayZ and Ludicrous. Is there an understood rule in the community that if you are over 30 you only listen in the morning, and if you are under 30 you tune in at night? Because I don't know how many people want to listen to both.

Could it be that Radio One is trying to make a sort of "all purpose" African-American FM since they have no real competition (outside of the mass-audience Jammin')?

I think their drive to create isn't necessarily to create a station that fits every African American, but is instead an excuse for not owning two FMs.

The format, odd as it is, appears to be working. The latest Arbitrons have set a record for the 97.7 frequency in Boston. WILD-FM's 12+ numbers are higher than not only whipping boy WBOS, but also WBMX, the two Entercom FMs, and tied with WZLX. The new tower site that covers the target demo has to be why the 12+ ratings are so durastically better; though I'd suspect that it is the Urban AC programming that makes up the majority of the number.
 
Speaking of female DJ's on WILD, whatever happended to Andrea Phillips? I know she was on Zou, WILD, and Mix and I've lost track of her. (AHN-DRE-AHH)
 
And what about Rick Anderson? Is he still on the AM side? His afternoon show on the old 1090 was great -- one of the best jocks around, IMHO.
