Wild regressing?

Now I do not claim to listen everyday...I was in Ocean City for two weeks when the flip to Wild happened...I have listened a few times via internet....At first the station sounded hot, to me. Good dance tracks, good selection of gold songs..So yesterday I listened for a little over two hours in the afternoon and a little over an hour in the evening. I think bad imaging for one...too repetitive..plus I would be playing sweepers not breakers...if its supposed to be a party sounding station why stop the music so much..second its pretty much all remixes of pop songs....I only heard one gold record yesterday..just one...I only heard two pure dance songs..one I couldn't i.d. the other was that damn We Speak No Americano song( wrong!!wrong song to play!!! first thing the people I was with said was What the F### is this?!?!). If your not heavy on actual dance tracks this can not be the one you add!!! I know it's supposively going to be a hit ( I hope not) but its not a hit yet.
Why not play the regular version of OMG Usher, Ke$ha Your Love Is A Drug...ect...Then add gold dance songs that people recognize..Then play two golds an hour of dance songs people know..like Lasgo Something, Mel C I turn to you ..ect Then infuse one or two dance songs an hour...IDK I was not impressed it was like hearing 99.3 Kiss FM just the wrong versions of songs....WILD has to fix the imaging big time ..is it that hard to make new breakers/sweapers wow how many timescan you play "What happens in Ac stays in AC""...really??
One Last note the DJ Brian O Brien...was so wrong for this format.....He sounded like BIG JOE HENRY(101.5) trying to do CHR circa 1995..really bad..I found him to be very annoying..he was shouting every break and ,I'm sorry this is mean, and sounded like an old guy trying to sound "hip".
I have no ageda here. I just love dance music and if this station fails it will be said "See a dance format can't work and won't sell advertising" They need t tweak tis station fast...if they need help the should look at 94.5 The Vibe's playlist in Las Vegas...THAT IS THE FORMAT that will work in AC.

Great another consultant...

C 1 2 Cruz, Taio Dynamite Mercury/ID... 5 -5 181 186 194 162 93 55
C 2 1 Get Far FEat. H-Boog... The Radio Next Plate... 5 -53 170 223 167 151 136 129
C 3 5 Cool, Yolanda Be & D... We No Speak American... Ultra 5 +21 161 140 119 83 58 28

I beleive it will be Number one by Monday. but your right, not a hit, Wild shouldnt play it.

My point about "No Americano" . Wild is not established. To the casual listener why the hear this sng they will be like"What the F###"" As many peopl that like this track will oppose this track..Get it? This track will hurt this station ..People wll turn the dial..why not play a different dance song?...Are they playing "the Radio" Get Far? That would be a better fit.
If you're gonna jump in the conversation(which is great)..how about answering my other accousations? Like totally lazy imaging..a really bad jock and all remixes and hardly any pure dance tracks? I love dance music and I would love this station to kick ass! Let's face it though ,the normal radio listener wants to hear the original version of songs..instead of a sped up Usher OMG...why not play the original and follow it up with Higer State by Jodie Connor. I even like the remixes...I'm just saying they would be better served to play the originals and add "dance" tracks now until they are established...It's about ratings..right?? Ratings = money. The are having financial difficultes at Atlantic, right? Or do you "No Worko Americano?"

We Speak No Americano, was probably the most talked about record at the DJ Expo at the radio and mixshow panel. Every dance station in the country is playing it and so are the Internet stations.

Mark my words novelty tracks like this hurt dance music more than help...songs like this one are the ones that make the casual listener hate dance music and make them refer to it as "techno"...Dancerev889...this track is fine on Z889 (I still hate it). Z889 is an established dance station..not a sign on..plus Z889 is not commercial.Wild need rating now because of their financial difficuties song choices like this could hurt tem (same w that God Awful Michael Buble rmix) Wild should be smarter with its selection....plus honestly they have to switch their playlist a little too many remixes without a lot of original dance songs..Brett I know you support this station and you are friends with ome of the people involved but lets behones this station does not sound right...and it could easily with a couple of tweaks.
If this station fails it will be another.." dance format can't work"..Instead go balls to the wall and give the people dance music infused with the original songs..ex Ke$ha Gaga..ect. Once again check out theVibe Las Vegas.....thats the playlist that could be top five rated in AC...

I'm sorry but I can't stand that stupid "Americano" song. I hope it dies out before the end of September.

I agree I been listening to wwac wild 102.7 and they play the same songs to much repetation been listening since when the signed on they are playing about 3 or 4 pure dance songs per hour and they play to many remixes. Remixes got to go they are so annoying this station needs to change they need to play more new dance songs more gold dance songs and more pop and hip hop and r&b. I called Brion o Brion to request a song few days ago but he din't play it the song was love inc - superstar. There is no doubt that this station doesn't sound as good as wzbz 99.3 the buzz did when they played dance music from 1999-2002. I hope this station changes for good and they listen to as. I will call the program director.

First off Tomie I agree with everything you said but one thing...the request you made...The station is programed...every song is predetermined by the PD...Brian O Brien couldn't play your request even if he wanted to...he is not allowed...
Now the old 99.3's format destroyed Wild..period..no argument..and the Buzz was moving up in the ratings(I believe their last ratings book as dance they were in 6th place..not positive on position but it was 5th 6th or 7th) The Buzz was really catching on and gaining steam but when Equity bought it the flipped it to Hip hop immediatly..I can't fully blame Equity there was a tremendous void in the market of any urban music. However , I wish another station would have flipped first...I think the Buzz was fantastic.
Wild better get it together..or it will be labeled another failed attempt of putting a dance station on the air...funny thing is they are NOT dance..they are a remix CHR...pop rb and hip hop remix CHR.

"We No Speak Americano". Either you LOVE IT or you HATE IT. I've never heard anyone say that the song is just "okay."

I don't know if the song is starting to "age" now but it's still relevant. ESPECIALLY to New Jersey because the track has that "light fist pumpin' " sort of sound to it that does get the crowd going at a D'Jais or Bamboo Lounge. I'm sure the clubs in Wildwood are on top of it.

If we're going to bash on novelty songs, I think we've all survived "Cotton Eye Joe", "Electric Slide", "Lambada" to name a few. If this song can get a few more people over to the dance music side, then WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME! :)

to instigator

If brion o brion can't play the request then why even say on the air I can get in your request call me now it doesn't make sense love inc -superstar was a dance hit I havent heard that song since 99.3 wzbz played it when they were dance. I just like to request songs that don't get played there that's why I made that request. But if he can't play the requests thats sucks. You said the songs were predetermined so he want me to request the songs that get played there everyday. Then you said he is not allow to play the song. Why is that?

I really blame equty comunications for changing the dance format of 99.3 the buzz that station was on of the best radio stations in the country. They coundn't have 99.3 compete with wayv thats a shame they destroy good stations. They did the same in 2008 when he changed to kiss. He dindn't keep the dance format and he din't keep the hip hop format very bady for listeners I never liked his stations they never play all the songs I take wsjo over wayv but now I listen to wild 102.7 better than other stations. If you gonna play 90% hip hop why not switch back to hip hop and r&b I know equity doesn't like dance but the just changet to kiss as a deffensive move they must have known that wild 102.7 was coming. I just think 99.3 kiss is horrible because biggest problem no djs has been like this since 2008 thats cheep plus they din't play 90's music until wild came in town been checking their playlist at mediabase. wild 102.7 been in town since july of this year and they already have on air personality. I'm happy for wild 102.7 and I hope is here to stay.

Tomie..its just one of thoses radioisms....The "request line" has been bullsh## for decades...DJs tell you to call in for your favorite song knowing they are not going to play it. When you hear a listener on the air requesting a song its a song that was in rotation anyway. The Dj waits and then plays the recorded intro over the intro of the "requested' song. Even a lot of all request shows..like "all request" lunch or even "between the sheets" back in the day on STAR104.5 are programmed....It would be great if Djs had the power to play requests or even sneak in tracks they pick...instead you hear "California Gurls" Katy Perry every hour and 15 minutes because thats what the consultant or Pd thinks people want to hear.
Just in case you wanted to know alot of the people you hear on the air are phoney..they are people the dj knows and say exactly what he wants so he can form a good break. i assume you're new to these boards ...the things I'm telling you highly disappointed me when I got in the business and found out.

I know for one radio station in New York City the "listener testimonial" calls they aired were real. My voice was used in it for a month.

I didn't say listener testimonials...I said request phoners.

Behold the beauty of non-commercials below 92 and Internet radio, my friend.  Even then we also have rules, but we're less "handcuffed" to do things.  All I gotta say is at least you have Wil, and glad to have dance back in South Jersey.  I do know Hit has it's share of dance music and is a dance friendly CHR, but I still have my stream running  8)

I'm really new to this board but next time I will request a song that I know that wild played before I see if they will be able to play it for me. I also called the program director left a massage for him got no call back. But I like to talk to him to let him know that I'm glad to see dance back in south jersey but I will tell him to get rid of those remixes & those remixes of rock songs and replace them with original versions and add more dance songs. But I doubt it if he will listen to me.

I think WILD is perfect. Keep your 1 new client happy and keep playing them remixes. Everyones loving it ! I like to request MTVs party to go vol 2.

Nick, you don't see it? You're a fan of dance music defending your new station as a listener, and What I Heard is a former salesperson for Atlantic bashing the company for the decisions they've made and the way they're running their station(s).

Jump up and down all you want about WILD, but that's really not What I Heard's issue. WILD just happens to be a piece of the pie he's throwing in Atlantic's face. And, if What I Heard had his say, I believe the flavor of the pie is "humble."
