Is Wild 94.9 and Wild 102.9 in Reno realated? They both have the same name and both have Carmen prank calls.

Wild 102.9 sounds like Wild 94.9 and Movin 99.7 in one station.

Reno's Wild KWYL is Citadel-owned and San Fran's Wild KYLD is Cheap Channel-owned...

The two websites seem to display similar playlists of music...

There are several "WILD" stations across the Country. Radio is a Monkey SEE Monkey DO business. If something works in one market it is sure to be copied in others. Funny thing, it is not always the same company, coping itself. CBS has a wild station in Florida as I recall.

The carmen "Prank" calls can be heard on MANY stations across the country. I am a Huge JV in the morning supporter, but I HATE THE CARMEN calls. They are stupid..... But for legal reason's CC, CBS, Citadel have to buy these calls as "real" prank calls are against the law in most cases'.

Try googling "Kiss-FM" sometime, and see how many hits you get. They're mostly Clear Channel, but not all of them.

Same way with THE FOX, there are several of them and most are CLASSIC ROCK stations.

And why not? There's a lot of money riding on programming and market positioning. If a station owner knows that a particular slogan worked at one station, why not use it if it's not trademarked? It makes a lot of sense to do so. Better to bet on a proven winner than to try something totally new just for the sake of trying something totally new.

Heck, this is also why station callsigns keep getting recycled in the same market. There have been many KSANs in the Bay Area, a couple KOITs, and of course, several KFRCs. If a callsign or a slogan can get an extra half a point, that means more money a station can take in, so it's worth it to recycle.
