WILD

I was driving through the North Shore yesterday and punched up 1090 to hear the latest Chinese propaganda.
They appeared to be transmitting a dead carrier but as I turned the volume all the way I heard the audio very very faintly.
ISTR reading about this some time ago. Has it been going on all this time and no one at WILD has noticed? Called their main number but no one answered.

It's sad that a station that served the black community successfully for many years is now reduced to this...every time I check, the audio level is so low that it's unlistenable. And no one seems to care.

seems moderately undermodulated, seen much worse on ham bands though. given [FCC cites stations for](http://transition.fcc.gov/eb/FieldNotices/) inattention to things like wind blowing an ID number sign off a fence near the towers...you could probably somehow cajole WILD owners to send an engineer out to tweak the transmitter with enough clever phone calls?

Code:
47 C.F.R. S: 73.1570(a): "The percentage of modulation is to be
maintained at as high a level as is consistent with good quality of
    transmissions and good broadcast service,

Who DOES own WILD these days? I'm assuming from what I can find out that Radio One still does. I wonder why they even bother, unless this China Radio International outfit is paying them a killer sum to lease the signal.

I remember the days of checking the playlist section of Billboard every week to see what WILD was playing. (WILD was a "Soul" reporter!) Even though not a member of their "target audience," they were a preset on my AM radio long ago. Great music you couldn't hear anywhere else, and live & local personalities.

It's really a shame what has happened to what was once a great station. Why doesn't Radio One (or whoever owns them now) just sell it and be done with it?

are the people who own wild also own wale in ri?

Radio One still owns it, and no doubt CRI is writing a check every month. The agreement is in the public file.

China Radio International is what used to be called Radio Peking; it belongs to the Chinese government, so it's not allowed to own a U.S. radio station. In fact, I'm surprised their LMA of WILD hasn't caused something of an uproar among the political right (Agents of a foreign power! Using American radio stations for propaganda! Communists, even!).

Imagine Radio Moscow leasing time on even the most insignificant American radio station back in the seventies. It would have been an outrage.

Someone needs to show that to WDIS & WXBR!
