Wildman Walker --- Please !!!!

Wildman Walker --- Please !!!!

Get a Reality check ...... here is a loud - mouth dude on the radio who was very lucky to have a job
in Broadcasting for this many years in this Market... we all know that..... Don't know him, never met
him ---- just my assessment of his work on WEBN....
WEBN radio has not been the same since 1969.... my guess is "Wildman" thought he was to big for
britches and many of them fall ( Eddie Fingers - another lack luster Broadcaster who was lucky
enough to be in the right place at the right time ..... )....sorry folks ---- but that is the "Cold hard
truth about these dudes".....many will NOT like to hear my opinion .
YOU can also bet WEBN management had a lot of paper ( Memos ) on the Wildman and did consult
with their Attorneys.....
Now let the "truth haters" dump all over me .... I can handle it ! Water off a ducks back !

Re: Wildman Walker --- Please !!!!

I would hate to think CC dumped Wildman and Bob the producer were getting close to retirement age. I doubt it had to with their talent or whether you think they deserved to have had a long career on the air at one station. Follow the money as they say. I do agree with your assessment on WEBN being watered down and not the same in a very long time. Rock Radio has been replaced by the Ipod and Pandora. The Frog is Dead!

Re: Wildman Walker --- Please !!!!

Radio Fish Heads is not that far off.

Wildman " worked " at WEBN the first few years for media passes. He rode in on the Pete Rose media splashes in the 80s.
Wildman was a living cartoon type character who fit Lee Abrams model for a " fan doing the sport " on rock stations. Frank Wood listened to Lee.

Fingers was certainly a " right place right time " hire. Way back in the 80s WEBN hired him primarily to destroy the morning show at that Hamilton station that was taking WEBN's audience. Bender and Fingers were good. Bender was the brains. Eddie was the sarcastic laugher. WEBN got a 2 pronged advantage when they hired Fingers.

Fingers always had the WEBN management investing in big dollar help ( Bob The Producer for one ) HUGE TV and billboard campaigns, on air contesting etc.

Ed did well for himself but he certainly enjoyed a " right place right time " circumstance.

In the end the bean counters saw the salries of Fingers, Wildman, Berry and said bye bye.
This is a compnay that is now canning GMs & Regional VPs ( see Columbus honchos wacked recently ) because they make too much money.

Remember Frank Wood was running the show when guys like Ed and Wildman and Dennis were invited to join the tribe with the green mascot.

Good point. Rock radio is deader than Nixon. My playlist on my Ipod is three times that of most "rock" stations.
