I'm waiting for Hall to start cost cutting measures..

First to go will be the legendary Wayne Norman and they will institute an all satelitte format on AM 1400.

next.. although they are buying the building from Nutmeg Broadcasting, I wouldbe be surprised to see them turn around and sell it again.

They'd then move WILI 1400 & 98.3 to the CUprak Road Studios. There is room there, I'm sure. Kool 101 used to be a sales office I think.

THey would then have 98.3 voicetracked

Clearly there are going to be some cost-cutting measures, but I'd keep my predictions to Worcester, Mr. market 156. Wayne Norman is indeed an institution, so why would they ax him? Many stations that have adopted satellite formats still keep local morning shows. Localism is what has made Hall successful. Look at WICH. They still have many local programs. And, the primary reason they axed Norwich morning man Johnny London was because he was promoting his business on the air without paying for advertising.

Second, I predict the stations stay where they are. Have you seen all of the vacant store fronts it Willimantic? No one is going to buy real estate on Main St. simply to sell it again.

I don't disagree that Mr. Norman is an institution...

I know some of Hall's stations (even one's in CT) are voicetracked and they sound horrible. I'm waiting for that virus to spread

I don't know that this happens at all Hall stations although the only one I'm faintly familiar with is WCTK in Providence. Not being a country fan I can't say for sure but it doesn't appear that they voicetrack excessively if at all. They have had live deejays taking calls even on some holidays. They may not be the highest paying station in the market but do appear to be live most of the time.I don't know what the company's philosophy is in smaller markets.
