While we all celebrate WARM and long for the good old days of WARM, let it be known that we were capable of changing the dial in the 60s and 70s. During that time, WILK brought great radio to the area. First as a standards station with Don McNeil's Breakfast Club from Chicago, Dan Stenger from 10 to 2 and Guy Randall from 2 to 6Pm.
In 1968, WILK went from standards to top 40 and actually had a survey sheety of 98 songs. There was a steady stream of talent going through those doors in both news and on air jocking. Bob Woody, Bill Dennis, Joe Montione, Panda, Pat Finn, Hugh Finn, Don Bruce, Peter Piper, Frankie Warren, Jimmie Coles, God there were a bunch. News, Dave DeCosmo, Kevin Jordan, Karen Harch, Kathy Bozinski, Brian Carey and so many others.
This week after the 11 O'Clock news break, the station is airing parts of a retrospective on the Sue Henry Show and they have a humdinger of a show planned for later this month. The actual birthday is Feb. 13th. Tune these vignettes in, they are superb.
