Will 105.7 be on the air Friday?

Hispanics are protesting today, staging what one politician calls a "work out."

Hispanic workers are taking off from work to show the public how valuable they are.

So, will 105.7 join in and stage their own?

I'm sorry, but does anyone else see how counter-productive this is?

My post or the protest?

To my way of thinking, both are useless.

Just Wondering

If the Hispanics stopped working, would anybody notice the difference?

Re: Just Wondering

Just the entire landscaping, construction, and poultry industries of the state as well as many of the farms. Pretty sure they'd notice.

The Hispanic workers building a house across the street from me have it blaring, and it's definitely a morning show...unless Jerry Del Core and his wife have learned Spanish and are filling in.

Re: My Thoughts . . .

Being in the construction industry, the quality of work performed by about 70% of the Hispanics that pass themselves off as skilled workers is just not there. Construction in the bid market is extremely competitive and the finished product reflects this in the quality of workmanship. In order to get the job you sometimes have to use subcontractors that are not known for the best quality.

However, contractors that have a regular customer base with expected quality standards and are willing to pay for quality tend to use quality subcontractors. These subcontractors may be or employ Hispanics, but they are truly skilled workers. Fortunately, most of my construction career has allowed me to be very selective of the subcontractors I use.

Today, more than ever, most of the Hispanic workers in the construction industry are not skilled in their trade. Sadly, they do not have the language skills, desire, or aptitude to ever become skilled and therefore will ultimately become a liability to our society.

I fear we are beginning to see the growth of another welfare class in our society.

The actions of the many illegal’s supporting this behavior will ultimately hurt themselves as well as the aliens that have tried to do the right thing.

>Who really cares? Isnt it time that instead of this country giving away
benefits to those who do not deserve them, that we take care of who actually
comes here with a legal purpose in mind? Again, who cares? If they strike
then give thier jobs to Americans who really need them. Productive or not,
this is a question of folks who have bills and needs, If they give up the
jobs then great, I know of plenty of deserving Americans who really need
the work.
______________

Man, there are a bunch of racist SOB's on this thread. And they don't care who knows it. Very sad. I wonder what is meant by another "welfare class?"

(rolls eyes)

Obviously, the radio folks would likely broadcast and take calls related toward the protest.

Posters here may laugh off the protest in Atlanta and around Georgia, but they haven't laughed it off in Phoenix, Milwaukee, or Los Angeles.

If you are speaking to me you have misread my post. I spoke of skilled craftsmen and quality work or the lack of it, not on racial selectivity. Also, I would appreciate it if you would be more respectful of my mother.

Not only are my relatives naturalized citizens of the United States of America, who took the time to come to the United States legally (paperwork and 2 weeks travel by cruise ship) back in the 1960’s, but did not and still do not relay on the government for any assistance and as far as I know, the IRS is not after any of them. My family did what they were supposed to do, make the “American Dream” happen legally; otherwise I might not be here now. If my family had to do it by the book, why can’t the Mexicans?

So, how did there "strike" affect me you ask, well:

I still worked about 9.5 hours today, even if they didn’t. As a matter of fact, it’s pay day……..

The two stations I tuned-in to going from job to job, Q100 and 96 Rock were still on the air.

There were less people on the road that DO NOT know how to drive, which made things easier for me to get around town, serving the customer, making the company I work for money and making money for myself – Capitalism and the American Dream at it’s finest.
I can run my mouth about the driving, I’ve lived on the outskirts of Chamblee for the last 18 years and have put over 110,000 miles on three different work vans driving around the metro area. I believe I'm quite qualified on that subject.

There, I’ve said it. Now, it’s 8:30pm, and I’m going to see if maybe, just maybe, I’ve got enough copper wire to pick-up WGST's night time signal just to say I did it, and read this month's National Geographic. Good Night.
Edited by VPAGR on 03/25/06 01:31 AM.

I just love how if you tell it like it is these days you are a racist.
Political correctness must be getting even worse.

I beg to differ, cochise. Illegal immigration (from ALL nations, not just Mexico) is a serious problem that has to be addressed, not just for national security (defense & employment secuity), but to stop the crishing burden on the taxpayers. That's not racist, it's merely the truth.

Now run back to the SF board. We're fine here, thanks, and don't need a hall monitor.

Respectfully, Mr. Fuentes . . .

Please review the following definitions of racism and racist and update your vocabulary. Once you have a handle on the meanings of these words, please reread this thread and let us know where you find hints of racism in this thread.

2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

racist

adj 1: based on racial intolerance; "racist remarks" 2: discriminatory especially on the basis of race or religion [syn: antiblack, anti-Semitic, anti-Semite(a)] n : a person with a prejudiced belief that one race is superior to others [syn: racialist]
