Will 1380 finally see the light of day?

Looks like the 1380 AM originally intended for Shenandoah is finally going to make it on the air. KRCM-AM is currently listed as licensed-but-silent in the FCC database. But, it's being bought by DAIJ Media, Roberto and Ruben Villarreal, who have applied for an extension of the CP to give them time to get it on the air.

Ralph McBride is supposed to see about $575,000.00 for the thing; which was moved in here from Beaumont. Radio and Television Business Report states that the relatively high price is explained by the location of Shenandoah, just North of Houston. Although as currently licensed, the station will really just cover Shenandoah and the Woodlands, with only a fringe signal over the Houston metropolitan area. But, it holds a CP to up the daytime power from 250 W to 2.8 kW; probably with a directional antenna. At night, it will still be a Shenandoah station, dropping to 60 watts.

Don't look for it to be a station that serves it's local community, though. It will most likely be another Spanish-language station. Like we didn't already have enough of them in this market.
 
Aren't there some Spanish-speaking members of the "community" that another AM station might serve?

And I am a non-Spanish speaking person that would love to see some different formats on the Houston dial like Standards, Oldies etc.
 
Funny that McBride found a sucker, I mean purchaser, for that turd in the punch bowl called KRCM. No one will ever hear it, regardless of format. We should be lucky with the rest of the Spanish tilted crap <end of rant>.
 
Spanish religious is what it will be, if that matters, since we're talking about the Radio Aleluja people.
