Will 1520 be next?

Renda's going all-business on Pittsburgh's WPTT (1360) "We're going to become Pittsburgh's new sound of money", is the way Renda Broadcasting VP Alan Serena puts it. WPTT had just dropped late-morning talk host Lynn Cullen, and that was a prelude to a coming wholesale September 1 format change, from talk to business talk. Much of the new station will be based on the lineup of Business TalkRadio Network. Look for the calls to change from WPTT to WMNY, based on Renda's request to the FCC Media Bureau Call Sign Desk. Meanwhile, Cullen's progressive-leaning show - which had been WPTT's biggest revenue biller - is searching for a new home in the Steel City.

Business talk would be cheaper than the hodgepodge now on KOKC to run, but could Renda sell it?

CC had Business TalkRadio Network on KAKC about two years ago and it failed again, like all the plug-n-play formats they have stuck on 1300 over the decades.

Oh, it WILL fail, no doubt if tried. That never stopped Tony Renda from trying something though. As a rule if he starts doing it in other markets, even with very limited success I would almost expect it here.

We also can't forget Power Business News AM 1140 KPRW back in the early 90's after they flipped from Urban. I don't think that format did well either.

So I guess the question is now, what would you do with the frequency? All Goth all the time? Urban Polka?

How about Real Oldies or Scott Shannon's True Oldies. Let Danny Williams be the morning guy and let the bird or automation handle the rest.
