Will 1520 wnwt change formats after the sale to EMF?

With EMF buying 96.9fm and 1520am, will 1520 keep the talk format or just simulcast K-love? Possibly might they lease Time on 1520 to the annunciation radio folks?

EMF could lease it out or just put K-Love on it. They have leased out stations in other markets, up in NY they lease out a station to a southern gospel/christian country group.

Since there is no reason to simlucast K-Love on AM, they would be smart to LMA it out and make a 'few' bucks on it.

The reason for changing the AM to non-commercial is because there are no "main studio waivers" for commercial stations. EMF uses the "main studio waiver" loophole to allow them to run all their stations as satellite drones with no local staff. The waiver allows them to keep the public files at the network studio in Rocklin, CA instead of at a local site. The station then becomes nothing more than a dish at the transmitter site.

I would wager that they will dump the AM somehow. Usually when they get an AM in a combo sale, they will spin it off. One issue complicating an LMA with Annunciation is the fact that the EMF people haven't been too friendly to Catholics in the past (there's apparently a :60 local insert slot in the K-Love clock for local church announcements, and they refused to run announcements for Catholic churches in at least one market).
However, Annunciation's money is as green as anyone else's, so I figure they will probably just sell or least to whoever comes forward with the dough.

Wonder what EMF would do if someone would show up in Rocklin and ask to see public file for station W...?

The Toledo Blade did a major story of the Fairness Doctrine here: http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090215/NEWS09/902150323

The didn't mention the fact that Ed Press and Stephanie Miller will likely to be tossed from WNWT after the
sale of WNWT to the EMF radio group. So, the Toledo radio airways will loss it only two "Liberal" takers.

Or will EMF toss BILL Press and S. Miller? Not to mention WNWT carries Dan Patrick - what? Biparitsan sports talk?

EMF does not have a history of airing talk radio. They'll either keep the format as is till they can sell the station, or they'll simulcast K-Love on 1520...till they can sell it.

Perhaps Toledo Radio, Inc should look into an AM companion for WPFX...that is... if that deal is still going to hold.

To my knowledge the sale has not gone through yet.

And once it does EMF may/may not change WNWT-AM to non-commercial. It may keep it talk radio while looking for a buyer as EMF, historically, does not operate AMs.

Should EMF choose to keep WNWT-AM they most likely will simulcast K-Love on it.

The real story... what is Toledo Radio, Inc doing with WPFX besides keeping it dark. Is there $$$ issues with the deal?

At this point, I'm not sure if 107.7 will ever come back on. As far 1520 goes, I noticed there website has not been updated in awhile and the Sunday night oldies show wasnt on this week either.

My guess is, there gonna simulcast K-love for a bit or as soon as the sale goes through its gonna be sold instantly to someone else, can you say Urban radio? Urban owns 95.7 and 97.3, maybe they would want a place to put a gospel format? CC and Cumulus are at there limit on the AM ownership.

EMF will simlucast once they are legally able to do so, then sell to someone else.

in other news not related to EMF,

107.7; You would think the the new ownes would want to get it on the air for the price they paid for it. Their only loosing more money each day they don't have a signal on air.

There was a sports broadcast last night on 1520. At the end of each show the host mentions possible pre-emption each week due to sports.

Ok, They have been airing the same Fred Thompson show for a week now, same one from last monday(on tape delay at night) over and over. WTF?

I'm thinking there just buying there time before the EMF take over?
