Will AFV ever get a new host?

Tom Bergeron has already been on America's Funniest Home Videos for too long, it's already looking stale. They need to lighten up the show, find a more hip younger host for the network's longtime Sunday night mainstay.

My first suggestion: Former Wipeout correspondent Jill Wagner

Furthermore, I saw how the Australian version kept its show fresh and upbeat to please its viewers and keep with the times (new host every 5 years, celeb guests, $250,000 grand prize) and since we're in the YouTube era, I believe AFV should make some changes to its format. For instance, create a YT account and have its viewers submit their funny videos.

And as for the prize money, $10,000 weekly prizes are so 1990s. Maybe it's time to raise it to $25,000 (along with the $100,000 shows 3x a season), and I'm not so sure about the year-end grand prize, but maybe make it worth over $200,000 (cash, prizes, or combination) but still, in one way or another, have Disney Parks remain associated with the show, as having the season finale at any of their parks.

You have any other suggestions?

I never liked Tom Bergeron as AFV host. Dare I say it, but I preferred Bob Saget.

How are ratings for AFV these days anyways, in this age of Youtube?

I think ratingswise, AFV continues to hold up very well against 60 Minutes. Also, I think they have their own app where you could even submit your video right there.

And, I've enjoyed Tom Bergeron's style; Bob Saget in retrospect turned me off with him trying to become the show's Mel Blanc in addition to hosting.

Prize money? Does the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" ring a bell to you (though I think in the first season, a camcorder and TV (both by RCA) were the second and third place prizes respectively)?

I think ALL of the hosts have been better than Tom. They spend far too much time or filler
trying to make Tom look cool and cute......then the videos are knocked down to 50%.

If the program remains successful when Tom Bergeron is no longer available to host, there would most likely be a new host afterwards.

Ryan C. Crest, should be the new host!
Micro (Mike Rowe), should be considered for the job.

(assumes the user was referring to Ryan Seacrest)

Why the nicknames?

I'm guessing the supply of idiots that send them their videos and Disney park product placement keeps production costs low

^If your friends or relatives were to send videos to the program, would you call them idiots too?

I strongly suspect it was a joke.

I understand Ryan Seacrest will indeed be next in line to host AFV. Matter of fact, he's in the queue to take over hosting duties for every TV and radio production. He'll be the next Jeopardy! host. Ditto for Wheel. Even Price. If the program needs a warm body for an emcee, Ryan will be it. Clear Channel is already hard at work cloning him, and placing all the newly-generated duplicate Ryans into a deep freeze chamber. One will be thawed out upon the death of the current Ryan. When that one goes, another Ryan will be pulled out like a porterhouse.

Your great great grandchildren will know the name, just as you do. Ryan Seacrest. What's more, they'll never know the word "host" or phrase "master of ceremonies." They'll just think of it as "ryaning", even for local productions, e.g. "Golly, I wonder who'll be the ryan for this year's Carpal Tunnel Telethon?"

[Disclaimer: I'm joking. I think.]
