Will anybody pick up where 96 Wave left off?

There are "rumors" (and we know how accurate those are ;D) that an alternative format will move to another Charleston frequency (WPAL gets kicked around). Do others think this is a viable possibility or is it just angry rock fans keeping their fingers crossed? With 98X around, is there enough of the rock pie to be split...esp. if this new format is on a rimshot? Might Wave be resurrected on the new 101.7 if the flips and flops go through?

My thought is that Wave is dead and the "new" Charleston signal on 101.7 will go country.

Just getting a response from the peanut gallery...

if Clear Channel were SMART, they would flip 100.5 to Alternative. TODAY! Of course they should bring me back to town to program it. But we know THAT aint happenin'!!! LOL

98X NEEDS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE HOLE.. COME ON TOM! GET THEM TO STEP UP!!!

I'm just sayin'....

WHAT IF Chuck Moves to 95.9 and Wave will come back and have a stronger signal at 101.7? Could this be in the works or I am dreaming again?

Completely Monday morning QB'ing that, I don't see it happening. Usually continuity is the most important thing. With some notable exceptions, like WCBS New York, its really difficult to bring back a station once you've blown it up and blown the audience off. It's possible, but if there plans were to keep the Wave, they would have waited until the new signals came online to do variety hits.

THAT I agree with. Chuck will go to the new 95.9 and Apex (if they're smart) will run country on the proposed 101.7 flamethrower. Unless they could really do it right, it would be foolish for Apex (or any other group) to touch that format.

Still gotta wonder, though. WPAL is off the air, WAZS is still hurting (though they have a unique audience), and WALC isn't too well off, either...esp. with the new Chuck FM around. Only thing about these stations is that they lack a good deal in coverage.

Well with WALC up for sale, it's possible. But you make a valid point, WAZS has been in the dumps, but Jabar refuses to flip the format. Charleston radio has been long due for an overhaul, but I never expected Wave to be the one to fall victim.
