WILL ANYONE DO CHRISTMAS LIKE SUNNY

O

OHara

Guest
Granted, I never listened to Sunny, except when they went all Christmas, then I had them on non-stop. Nobody, did Christmas like Sunny, and last year was their best ever, with so many "OH WOW" classics, they really played it all, Standards, Country and Pop. You all have to agree with me on that one. The question is, if the new 97.5, BEN or Philly 106.1 does go Christmas early and tries to compete with the B, (who IMHO, never held a candle to Sunny with the music), how will it sound. Bottom line; if any station goes all Christmas, will the same music be heard that Sunny played. I do hope so and I know many of you are saying, I am sorry I was upset that the music started too early, now there is nothing, we shall see if someone fills Sunny's shoes.

Philly 106 maybe. B101, probably won't go all Christmas for an entire month, unless soebody else does (altough I never liked there's anyway. Too many remakes) If alone, they may only be all X-mas for a week or 2.

If no Clearchannel station goes all Christmas, I wonder if Q102 will bring it back for 12 hours straight starting Christmas eve, like they did before Sunny started it? They use to play the classics too, mixed in with some of the newer songs from top 30 artists, but they would probably play the remakes now.

Why would Clear Channel miss out on an opportunity to make a lot of revenue? If they do it with 106.1, I'd expect it to sound like Sunny 104.5 did last Christmas.

Hey you guys are nuts worrying about Christmas....I'm still in National Fastpitch softball spirit...bring on the games on the airwaves already.

they played the same stuff year after year thank god its over ;D

b101.1 can sound normal during nov/dec agian no need to play x-mas music 24-7 no need

no dont play those sunny x-mas tunes on 106.1 that will kill the station

Before the debut of the Spanish format, I was thinking that 104.5 would have went with "All Holiday Music, All The Time" programming, and would wait till January 1, 2007 to debut the new format. If they had done that, I wouldn't have been surprised...even though it would be a silly move.

After Oct. 31, Rumba 1045 will go into a 24/7 loop of Feliz Navidad until Dec. 26.

If anyone will do the Sunny Christmas thing, depending on what GM does with 97.5, it will be either Ben or OGL.

However, one could assume Christmas music will be added like "ye oldern days" (a big kickoff on the day after Thanksgiving - moreover on themed programs like lunchtime request hours, a few records per hour after that, increasing until Christmas Eve, when most stations go to 24/7 Christmas music until approximately 6PM Christmas Day).

Do you think any Philly radio station start playing all Halloween tunes starting after Labor day. I mean they can play Bobby Boris Pickett's "Monster Mash and anything else that sounds scary. I think Wired would be a good candidate for that since their ratings are scary.

To me, it wouldn't make much sense for 106.1 to go all Christmas.

Why?

For the simple reason that it's not a smart move to flip a 3 month old format to a completely different format for 2 months and then go back. Talk about confusion.

But, that's just my opinion.
