Will anyone pick up Imus?

Wondering if anyone will pick up IMUS now that he is back on the air.

...maybe KT'R will have him do commentary during AMD a couple of days a week ::)

Seeing that he bounced from one no-show AM to another in the past without gaining any traction, the Nurse and I see it as a tough sell. The I-man is a grumpy old phart who seems to work best in the Northeast. Last time we checked, this was the Southwest!

Only stations that want to lose money by putting on a terrible show that gets no ratings... last I checked, 1100 already has Charles Goyette to fill that role, so to answer your question: No.

I heard the first 10 minutes of his "triumphant return" to the air, he is even more unintelligible and incoherent than ever. I also find it amusing that he has a black female on his staff... who is terrible by the way... Luckily the 43 people that listen to Imus nationally won't see through that!

The old saying really applies to the radio biz, I'd rather be lucky than good.

Of course, ABC is being much more demanding than WW1. No more barter, no more freebies for stations that air Joe Scarborough. BTW, where's Joe Scarborough? :D I guess anybody could run a network better than WW1.

I think the real question is, 'Who will pick up Tom Leykis?' The guy had great male numbers when KZON flipped. Doesn't somebody want those numbers????

Leykis has been dropped more times in Phoenix than Madonna's panties in high school.

Still the facts are the facts and his numbers were big for KZON

Imus will be a good fit for KKNT AM in Phoenix. Their an older crowd, and Imus fits very nicely...much better fit there than Dennis Miller whose a bit too hip and "edgy" for 960. Imus blends nicely with the older, slower sounding Prager and Bill bennett. Look for that change within the next 90 days or so....

Anyone else want to bet Larry a dinner at Mary Elaine's? :)

Someone should pick Leykis up. Problem is the format as a whole can't carry a station. 1060 should replace whatever nonsense is on in PMD and put him on there. Or, and I'm sure I'll be ridiculed for this, but what is 94.1 billing? They reach enough of the valley, particulary the east valley, that they could make more off one show than hawking spots in Globe. Then again, I don't know the new owner.

I wasn't aware that there was a demographic of "PWT that makes less than $8,000/year and is carrying multiple STDs", but apparently there is... I guess that crowd would be thrilled to have Leykis on the air.

Let's face it, his 15 minutes expired in 1996 and his voice expired shortly thereafter. "Treat women like crap, more ass than a toilet seat, show me your boobs" .. yawn.

KMGX, check out the numbers a few miles to your west... in LA, the audience is 40% Hispanic and most Leykis listeners earn $75k+, are more likely than John and Ken or Larry Elder listeners to drive a Lexus, etc. His show is much like an ancient circus routine... 1% of idiots calling in to entertain the intelligent masses.

Where would the left leaning Imus fit in the far to the right KKNT lineup? I don't think the older demo is all that homogeneous. You can't just throw on an old guy and all the old people will listen.

...Imus is hardly "left-leaning" -- unless you're comparing him to the swastika-laden crop already on KFYI and KKNT...

"No one can hear Imus in Phoenix."

"Well, maybe KPHX 1480 will pick him up."

"As I said, no one can hear Imus in Phoenix."

(Sorry, but this one was too easy. ;D)

KKNT would be a perfect place for Imus. Imus then Bruce Jacobs. With those two guys they could have a monster.

Apparently Bruce Jacobs pulled a Liddy and Hill while I wasn't looking. But as far as Imus on KKNT, he might get in trouble with those calls.
