Bluewater apparantly has some agreement to program 93.1 the new Coosada station that now has the call sign WGMP. Since they can only have interest in 4 fm's, does that mean the LMA and format of WMRK 107.9 will go away soon? Since sign on, there have been staff cut backs at 107.9 and it appears it is being run on a shoe string. "Inquiring minds want to know" WMRK might be on life-support. It will be interesting what Alexander plans to do with 107.9 in the future.

Will Bluewater Abandon the LMA on 107.9 WMRK?

This is just a hunch but if your info is right, here's what I think will happen.
107.9 FM moves back to their old home in Orrville and picks up their old branding, format and calls.
If that happens, then someone else will have to compensate Shorter for the loss of their only radio service.
One other thing, if 107.9 FM does move back to Orrville and they go back to their old format, what will become of the AM 1340/96.3 FM combo?
Maybe someone with more knowledge on this can help us both out.

RDP..I don't think that will happen. WMRK 107.9 is a Montgomery rim-shot and the value of the station is it's use as yet another Montgomery area station. You can bet it will not change location.
Alexander could LMA it to someone else, or decide to operate it on it's own. But in any event it appears that the news-talk format is on life uspport and may end some time soon. In 2011-12 there are too many radio stations competing for a smaller size of the radio ad dollars available. I am sure Bluewater is tired of the LMA payments to Alexander.

Zack...you are wrong...An LMA counts towards ownership limits. In Montgomery a company can only have 4 FM'S. In the case of Bluewater, they own 3 FMs and rent 107.9 from Alexander out of Selma for a big monthly payment. Being involved with 93.1 means they will have to dump 107.9. But I suspect they are ready to dump the expenses of running that 2 share station at this time.

Results do matter....just last week WBAM did a remote at a local car lot. the BAM BAM truck was outside, lights flashing, and NO ONE was in the lot or building. Botttom line the remote did not pull anyone in for the remote. So as I passed by this disaster, I tuned into 98.9 and listened to a station that was on auto-pilot, wi th the automation running wild, out of control for almost 15 minutes, really bad radio. Yes results do matter. If 107.9 is the number two biller in the "cluster" that does not bode well for the other two stations within the market's number 3 cluster. When is 107.9 being turned back to Alexander, that was the subject of the oriiginal post? Inquiring minds want to know. Time to take some of the revenue for 107.9 and fix the bam bam automation and voice tracking computer so it does not have a big meltdown in PM drrve like last week.
Buster, you are such a "know it all", yet you are not in the business - or am I wrong. As far as technical issues are concerned - shit happens, and it happens to everyone. Bottom line, without automation, all of us would be out of business. That's why there isn't a 24/7 live station on in the entire market. Btw, know it all - News Talk 107.9 originates 10 hours of live, local, real time programming a day. Oh, and that "crappy" Country station we talked about is a million + dollar biller. You are such a poser.

You just keep me on the edge of my seat just wondering what ignorant set of statments you will post next. 1170 AM/104.9 FM Hard to tell at this point.
Hey maybe our friend could check into buying out 1170 AM/104.9 FM and see if he could make a go of it.
Then again, I have a much better idea for our friend Mr. Busterluck. Go down to Highway 265 South in Camden and see if you help clean up that joke of a radio station called WYVC FM and get that Dr. Kook Neolin Craig fellow straightened out.
He has many issues that needs to be addressed and corrected.
(Examples include, Broadcasting With Too Much Power, A Louder Than Normal Volume Level, No EAS Machine Present, Unprofessional sounding Commercials, Announcements and Church Services and a dull musical presentation)
Myself and Mr. Zach would assist him but we are way too busy to entertain that thought.
Besides that, it would take oodles of money to clean up his mess and get the station in line with the rules of the F.C.C.
They need someone to teach them how to properly run a radio station and help revive it.
You might be the one to help carry these things out.
Go for it man.

R.D.P., actually there's nothing all that funny about your suggestion. For 300-400k I know of 3 or 4 stations for sale in the surrounding area - and one right in Montgomery. Pick up a translator for 50k and you have a nice little AM/FM combo. Then, make a go of it. Hire the right people, pick the right programming, and show us all how it's done. $300-400 can be scrounged up by most people - even if you have to mortgage everything you've ever saved or owned - like the guys who bought Bluewater. Just have the courage of your convictions and be willing to lose it all if you fail. That's what it takes. I encourange anyone with the cajones to go for it.
I don't see how anyone would want to be in radio these days. Mr. Gower got a good lesson with the Bluewater bankrupcy. It will be interesting to see in 2012 if Bluewater makes its loan covenants with Alta who is the real money funding that cluster. Aalta has been known to install their own people at stations that fall behind on lon covanants. For the right price all radio stations are for sale, including WMRK and Bluewater. Lot of sorry radio investors these days with properties they cannot unload. Alta advanced 600K to Bluewater to keep the stations on the air. Everyone on this board wants to see radio return to profitablity in 2012.
