Will Bonaduce Help the Carolla Show on 107.7?

(from PR News Wire)

Fresh off the season two conclusion of the hit non-scripted cable television show, Breaking Bonaduce, Danny Bonaduce will join THE ADAM CAROLLA SHOW as a featured member of the morning drive program (6-10:00AM, PT) beginning on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Broadcast live out of the show’s flagship station, KLSX-FM in Los Angeles, THE ADAM CAROLLA SHOW is carried on six CBS RADIO stations on the West Coast, and syndicated to a host of additional stations. The four-hour program also features Teresa Strasser in the studio.

"If you asked me why I wanted to join Adam’s show, my first reaction would be to say poverty," said Bonaduce, "followed quickly by the fact that I’m a big fan and have a lot of respect for his work. There’s nothing quite like doing live radio especially with a veteran like Adam. Having done his show in the past I know that there is something unique about what we bring to the table. I’m thrilled to be included and look forward to being back on the air full time."

Do you slow down to see an accident?

That train wreck waiting to happen is fascinating TV...er, radio!

I think that's the consensus at the ACS message boards. Most people there hate the idea, and feel that Bonaduce will probably increase ratings (at least temporarily), but drastically change the character of the show.

I've been listening the the ACS show since it started and enjoy it. (At least until R&M come back). Unfortunately, I think Bonaduce is too strong of a personality to be a radio "sidekick."

Regardless, I will still tune in to the ACS as there are no other morning shows that I listen to and enjoy.

Let's see, the Danny Bonaduce story usually goes like this.....

He gets sober again, finds a new job, then falls off the wagon and he gets fired.

Personally I think he is nothing but an attention wh*re who has had way too many chances. After watching his show on VH1, I thought I would have some compassion for him, but he is nothing but a selfish whiner who expects the world and people in his life to cater to his every need and emotion.

I am shocked that Corrolla even agreed to it, seems like a recipe for disaster to me.

That's assuming Carolla ever agreed to it.

I read a quote from Lazlo over at the End saying how excited he is to have Bonaduce joining the Carolla show. I mean what else could he say? Entercom in a effort to cut costs is forcing this show on him whether he likes it or not and the suits there don't have any say in what changes are made to Adam's show because they have NO control over it. They'll continue to run it until CBS decides to drop it, and then the End will either simulcast KIRO or go with 22 hours of nothing but Lazlo and his wife, with Loveline allowing them to take a late dinner break.

worthless fact: Afentra used to be Bonaduce's side kick on a morning show in Detroit. They hated each other. I like Adam, but there is no way in hell this is going to work.

Well, I listened to Carolla/Bonaduce for a while this morning. I think in all likelihood they're going to have to call in the EPA to clean up that pile. Too bad, I found Carolla to be fairly entertaining before screwing up his show.

You are correct, sir. He doesn't start until January. I realized this morning that what I heard yesterday was a "Best Of" in which Bonaduce was a guest. It was so awful that I didn't listen long enough to figure it out at the time. Anyway, if that interview is a clue to what we can expect in the future, the show won't be long for this world.

My bad.

I wonder if this is a move to get Carolla out of his contract? I will certainly tune in to hear how the "new" show sounds. It's that or back to my iPod.

Listened for a while on the way to work this morning. It wasn't the train-wreck some predicted. I appreciated how up-front Adam was about the whole thing; I hate when people come in & just act like nothing happened. He put it all out on the table, chalked it up to poor ratings & pledged to make it work with Bonaduce. Gotta love honesty.

Did notice a few times when Bonaduce stepped on Adam and could sense Adam's frustration, but wonder if that tension will ultimately help the show. Teresa is great on that show & she seemed to step forward a bit more today, which was good.

What does everyone think after the first week. I am relatively impressed. Some good interviews and comments. Although some of Donny's comments got better as the week wore on Carolla did a pretty good job keeping the show on the tracks. Might just work. They will both need to want it to work though.
