Will CBS-FM Play A Christmas Song?

nd2023

Banned
In the past, when the temperature hit 101 degrees, CBS-FM played a Christmas song. Do you think they will still do it?

The high today was 98, so...nope. In fact, I hope they don't do it when/if it reaches 101 degrees either ;D

And Rick Stacy played The Ronettes' "Sleigh Ride" on Saturday.

Actually, Rick played "Frosty the Snowman" by the Ronettes.

Nope, I heard it myself and it was definitely "Sleigh Ride". Unless he played "Frosty" at another point during his show.

I gotta go with MJB on this one - I heard Rick Stacey (who I'm a fan of!) playing "Sleigh Ride" on Saturday - and I was listening to his show pretty much ALL afternoon 'til I went to the Beacon Theatre concert - TRUST ME, kiddies, "mother" :) didn't hear Rick playing "Frosty the Snowman" (I wish he had - I like EVERYTHING on that ENTIRE Phil Spector Christmas album!! :) :)

I just checked the Yes.com log for WCBS-FM and found neither "Frosty the Snowman" nor "Sleigh Ride" on Saturday's playlist.

However, they did play Ray Stevens' "The Streak" on Friday in the 3 PM hour and Saturday in the 11 AM hour. Twice in a 24-hour span. Talk about variety! ETHELLLLLLLLLLL!

AGREED!! (and how can you go wrong with the Phil Spector Christmas Album!! :) :) :))

besides which, we're ALL winners now that CBSFM is back and rocking!!! :)

With the high expected to hit 101 degrees on Tuesday, perhaps we can look forward to CBS-FM playing a Christmas song this week.

Well, Nick, you called it: Mary (who frequents this board) reports on her Facebook page that Bob Shannon played a Christmas song today after the temperature hit 101 degrees. However, I cannot confirm the name of the Christmas song that he played during his airshift on Yes.com.

Confirmed on Mediabase.com for Tuesday 7/6/2010 on WCBS-FM:

2:44 PM LOVE, DARLENE Winter Wonderland (Philles)

From the National Weather Service in NYC:

RECORD EVENT REPORT...CORRECTED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
445 PM EDT TUE JUL 06 2010

...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT CENTRAL PARK NY...

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 103 DEGREES WAS SET AT CENTRAL PARK NY
TODAY AT 311 PM (EDT). THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 101 SET IN 1999.

On Wednesday 7/7/10, it "only" ;) hit 100 degrees in NYC's Central Park at 2:28pm EDT, breaking the old record of 98 degrees set back in 1993.

It was already hot enough, I wish it were one degree hotter so that they would play another Christmas song.

I hear the temperature hit 100 again on Wednesday. Did Bob break out another "holiday hit" in honor of the hot weather?

:) I was in the pool when Bob Shannon played Darlene Love "winter wonderland" I knew he would LOL I was laughing, funny thing I felt cool then :)
