Will CC's 104.7 KISS FM flip to La Preciosa??

Seems as though CC is in the process of flipping a number of stations to the spanish La Preciosa format...

La Preciosa Comes To Tucson
CLEAR CHANNEL flips Spanish Contemporary KTZR (SUAVE 97.1)/TUCSON to its Spanish Oldies LA PRECIOSA format.

Will 104.7 KISS FM be next? The not so brilliant move of John Jay & Rich to mornings (piped in from Tucson; to potentially 'hold down the fort') leads me to believe that something might be in the works. If I am SuperSnake, I've got my aircheck and resume out in the market...

Anyone one feel like speculating on this one?

Why not? CC has to be looking at 105.9 and their recent track record of ratings success; not the mention 103.5. Imagine a fulltime Spanish language station on a Class C stick. 105.9 and 103.5 each have a decent signal, but 104.7 is a flamethrower. If done right (and I have no idea of La Preciosa is any good), a 100,000 watt Spanish language FMer could make a ton o' dough. It's only a matter of time.

The format is already taken in the market, and would, at best, result in two 2-share stations.

Kiss is already billing more than the highest billing Spanish station, so the revenue potential is not great.

In addtion, they switched format on the Tucson station because it had horrible numbers after 4 years in Spanish. The replaced local programming with La Precisa because Preciosa is a satellite net 24/7 and has no cost.

The station had not been in Spanish in Tucson for 4 years. It had been a little over 2 years. I'm not sure exactly when they flipped to spanish, but the date of the domain registration of 971quesuave.com was December 10, 2003. I'd imagine that was done before the format change, so it had been just a bit over 2 years.

My recollection was that rick Thomas converted this to Spanish before going to Hawaii and then The Beat in SA, which would be in early or mid 2003... so it is more like 2, going on 3 years. I stand correctd.

In any case, I was only trying to point out that it did very poorly of late in Spanish, after debuting quite well under Rick. when CC tried to put the Atlanta Viva format on, it totally tanked.

Many Spanish stations do not immediately register domains or put up websites... it is often an afterthought months after changing format.
