Now that ZZN is out of the picture, and CKG's flip to oldies thwarted, might 105.9 flip back to Rock again?

They're probably all set up to do it anyway (Have plenty of rock that has been only played occationally during the overnights and weekends) so why not. In 2002 when WZZN was like a CHR alternative station (Songs being played over 100 times a week) WCKG was doing active rock overnights and weekends.<P ID="signature">______________

CKG was sounding pretty good when they were playing active rock. Opie and Anthony being fired really killed it though.
But I really liked how they sounded and won some tickets for some good shows!
Its at least a possability.

No way, get used to the talk, I don't think you will see a major switch over there. I think CKG may not have the best ratings, but they bill pretty well. Don't forget Infinity has XRT.

K-Rock? Hmmmm......

"Only the best Rock" would work on 'CKG. They wouldn't be competing with XRT (Jack is already kinda doing that). They would need to go harder than THE LOOP, just like a few years ago when they were active/talk. They did sound pretty good.

Dahl would be the only hold over -- get rid of everything else and hire SLUDGE for music in the mornings. Woody, Tony and Ravi would be good too for middays (even though I think Infinity is keeping them for THE LOOP or another town) and FREAK at night. Sure Steve might sound out of place, but if you look at it, he only fits in at a Rock station.

They can keep "Loveline" too!

Steve on Oldies 105.9 would have been a disaster, I don't recall him criticizing the music when it was harder 3 or 4 years ago.

Oh and most importantly they can keep the calls, but need to rebrand. People still think Patti Haze is spinning the classics at WCKG --- 1059 K-ROCK: The Best Rock, with Stever on your drive home.

All this probably won't happen, more McMurray, day old syndicated talk AND infomercials on how to keep that Colon regular! Keep up the good work Infinity, you are billing well!

Re: K-Rock? Hmmmm......

Unfortunatekly, rock radio is in a serious decline nationally, so I doubt that will be WCKG-105.9's direction----unless another Chicago-area rock station drops out of the format over the next couple of months.

Don't count out some kind of Spanish-language format. Infinity has recently flipped a couple of English-language FM's to Spanish-language formats.

Don't count out mainstream talk. Infinity/Westwood One syndicates Bill O'Reilly (already on WCKG, but on tape) and will soon syndicate Jay Severin (who until recently was heard on WTKK-96.9 in Boston). If Infinity takes WCKG more towards "mainstream" talk, the station could start airing both shows live.

I also have a hard time believing that Infinity was even thinking of putting oldies on WCKG after it had flipped former oldies station WJMK-104.3 to "Jack". I think Infinity is trying to get out of the oldies business.

If Infinity were really committed to oldies in the Windy City, WCKG would have become a "Jack" station for 20 hours a day this past June, with morning drive being converted to "Jack" once Howard Stern left Infinity.

Neither O'reilly or Severin are mainstream talk, so much for your theory, as usual no thought behind it, you just want to hear yourself talk.
