Will Clear Channel Flip 93.1?

The odd thing is that those domains were not registered by Clear Channel. They were registered by an employee who oversees programming of that cluster. Clear Channel buys domains all the time so it is odd that a VP of Pgm wouldn't have Clear Channel register those domains for him unless he was trying to keep it quiet that he was registering them. Is Clear Channel dumb enough to think there are more Country shares available in Sacramento? The Wolf is a mid ranker at best and that's how it has been for years now. Is The Wolf or KNCI vulnerable? I haven't lived in Sacramento for several years so I don't listen too much.

Someone on the other post asked if Clear Channel owns any other 93.1 stations so I checked their website............
KPLV in Las Vegas which is Top 5 6+
WTFX in Louisville which is Top 10 6+
WGMZ in Gadsden, AL which is a non rated metro
WPOC in Baltimore which is Top 3 6+
WHYN in Springfield which is Top 3 12+
WSVO in Harrisonburg which is #10 12+, which is low but it seems to be growing.
KHLX in Sacramento is #18 6+. Definitely their weakest 93.1 in the entire company lmao

What else is interesting is that 2 of the domains contain "new country", which, essentially mimics KNCI's heritage brand as "New Country 105.1 KNCI".

93.1 should have never gone the classic hits route. They signed on after KWOD and before KKDO, and could have easily scooped up the alternative shares, which are also PPM friendly. Heck, their stunting started with 2 days of alternative rock as a brand new signal. Also, I think at that time alternative was even on KQJK-HD2, as it remains now.

KCCL's move to Woodland was likely the nail in the coffin for 93.1 if this flip actually does happen.

I was the one that asked what other stations Clear Channel owns on 93.1.

A few weeks ago I was the one talking about CC unloading 93.1. I guess I'm not all that surprised about them flipping 93.1. They'll probably take the county format they already have piped into KFBK HD-2.

I agree with others, silly flip if true.

I don't mean to blend threads but what's the chance CPR would snatch up 93.1? I know it's a commercial license but...

Yes, I know it's not for sale... Yet.

That's actually plausible given the devaluation of some stations. It used to be that non-coms on commercial frequencies existed because they we're launched at a time when the FCC was giving away licenses. Then they became so valuable that a non-com would sell it and then find either a weaker signal or find a space to squeeze in the non-com band.

Now the tide is turning the other way. Commercial radio has been waning, but NPR continues to grow. Then you have EMF buying stations outright in major markets from commercial broadcasters.

Any way you slice it, Clear Channel Sacramento is weak in the younger demo. Why they didn't move KGBY over to 93.1 is surprising, because the numbers were decent, the playlist was researched and safe and the talent (though national) had star power. (Ie Valentine, Ryan Seacrest, Billy Bush)

Flipping to Country sounds absurd, but crazier things have happened in this town. Remember the Breeze 104.3, started out as a Smooth Jazz station signing on just days after KSSJ. Then there's KHLX itself, built at the KCCL site and then signing on as a to directly compete with K-hits with virtually localization. As it was mentioned earlier in the thread, the fact that they didn't jump at the chance of launching an Alternative format just a few weeks after KWOD's demise baffled me.
