Will Dance format ever come back to Miami/Ftl?

It's been a while. So, why not?

I thought Party went about it all wrong. Too cookie cutter. Same 15 songs all day long. Their weekend programming was solid at night with the DJ shows where they would play sets. Certain markets could handle it. This could be one, but I do agree there is a ceiling.

Anyone biting here? Or has this board gone so stale that all we do i read TJ's question posts?

(No offense TJ, I like your enthusiasm, but you could've put all those station questions in one thread & saved us some time).

I think the best chance for the Dance format is for one of the existing stations - such as Power - to lean Dance. As a format, it hardly exists anywhere anymore, and we all know that the corporate powers that be are extremely risk averse.

I would agree. There is one in NYC, but again there are 9000 radio stations in NYC. It's also not on a great signal 87.5 I believe. I think if you were to pull it off it couldn't be strictly electronic music in this town. You'd have to do like retro, & disco mixes in the midday or in the drivetime shows. Mix it up a bit.

A dance format could work in Miami if done right. Party just put the station on auto pilot and didnt spend any money on jocks, promotion, Playlist, or anything. If their wasnt a market for dance in Miami, you wouldnt have stations like Power 96 and Y-100 reverting to their Pre Party 93.1 Dance Friendly playlists.

While I do think a Dance format could work in Miami, it would probably be better to mix in a little Pop, and Hip Hop like Party 105 on Long Island,,,,,, Power might do okay having about a 20% Dance playlist, but if this does happen it will happen very slowly as to ease the P1s into it and get them used to hearing the 4/4 beat on the station. It might take a couple two or three years to get the Classic Power 96 sound back, Thats if Dance remains on the upward spiral at the station and doesnt stall out like it did in the early part of the decade, we can all hope. 8)

ANYONE GOTTA H-D RADIO? ? ? ?

LISTEN TOMORROW (3/24) AT 12NOON TO 93.1-2.

Will they be flipping back to Party on their HD-2 channel? It's just as well, their classic rock is as terminal as 105.9's.

I THINK UNIVISION SHOULD START AN ENGLISH DANCE STATION WHAT DO YOU SAY DAVID ?

No. We have two successful FMs right now, and are certainly not changing one for a brain dead format.

One of your best posts ever Clubber, as so far as how well it's written :)

WHY ARE YOU YELLING?

But, anyway, whatever. WAMR is the #1 biller in Miami. WRTO just debuted the Enrique & Joe show, and WQBA and WAQI get better ratings than the English talk stations.

Just exactly what is wrong with those accomplichments?

Cascada, Bob Sinclar, September, Ida Core ECT,,, all get play at CHR and Rhythmics. I think September's Cant get over would be a good fit for Power 96 as well as Y-100.
