Will Detroit get Amp'ed?

With CBS radio making changes around the country, 97-1 in LA on Friday and 107.5 in Dallas. 92-3 K-rock in NYC is on life support. Smooth jazz is dying everywhere.

So, might Amp radio appear on 98.7fm in Detroit? Will something else be done with 1270?

One of the markets that CBS Radio is thinking of launching a CHR/Pop station is indeed Detroit.
With Channel 95-5's huge success in PPM, and with its overwhelming Rhythmic lean, there might be room for a second CHR.

That would be great for Detroit, Michigan to finally get a new CHR/Top 40 station after 93.1 WDRQ got taken of the air.
I got XM satellite radio and if im anywhere in Detroit away from my XM radio I could tune in to the new Top 40 station launched by CBS radio in Detroit.
CBS should change 97.1 FM to CHR/Pop.

AMP Radio's playlist on KCBS-HD2 in Los Angeles has been REALLY close to that of WDVD (which I also listen to on a more than regular basis)

I dont think 97-1 The Tickets going anyplace, I'd leave it me myself. No way WOMC's going anyplace. So its either WVMV or WYCD. Would they take a Gamble on dumping Country 99-5, a format the station had had since mid 1993? W-4 did get dumped in the end so its possible. I'd say 98.7 is in play but maybe 99-5 is too.

They will get rid of V98.7. The smooth jazz format is over everywhere and they can make more money with Top 40 in Detroit. WVMV's 25-54 numbers are bad and they cannot make money with them any longer. They would not get rid of Country and allow anyone else in the market to profit over that as a cluster. If they dump smooth jazz, no one else will pick it up.

Also, "AMP'D" plays rhythmic music that WDVD doesn't touch, while playing the rock hits that WDVD does and WKQI doesn't. It just doesn't rely on the rap that WKQI relies on. It's completely a mainstream Top 40.

I'll agree with that, 106.7 is a WASTE plus they would be fools to give up country on 99-5. 97-1's holding its own with sports, I think 97-1's found there place in the market, like 6 formats later.

98-7 I think will go CHR BUT I disagree that no one will pick it up, enter 107.5 WGPR or 105.9 WDMK.

LMFAO's (The group, not the "chat-speak") I'm in Miami B***h is mainstream? Honestly? Cause that's really sad if true.
Yes, Miami has a mainstream CHR, the legendary Y-100, WHYI-FM.

While not terrible, V's fallen a little bit in recent months. 987ampradio.com is not regestered as of yet but that doesnt always mean anything. If CBS were to do this in Detroit, 98.7's the one it will be on.
