Will Erie ever get HD radio?

Yes, I do. Worked on-air for 23 years (including 14 in Erie) til I got out of radio in 1997. Don't even own a stereo in the house to listen to Erie radio. It sucks that bad. Only listen in the vehicle and that's why I'm hoping someday for HD.

When I go to Erie, I like to listen to classy 100, rocket 101 or Z102.....Is there any holiday music in Erie? Which station is going to play it?

Only 2 media companies here - Connoisseur and Citadel. Would love to see the day where Erie goes HD. Comments? Predictions?

It's very interesting to see whether or not that'll happen in the smaller markets. In Indiana County, Renda Broadcasting has reportedly given a piece of their operation to CBS Radio, for one of their stations that's now broadcasting in HD. I don't know if CBS is providing the HD transmission equipment or what, but it's going to be interesting to see how this all pans out over time.

Lash:

Worked for WWCB in Corry starting in 1977. After a week in Kentucky in 1978 (LOL, yes a week) at WYMC, returned to WWCB then it was off to WYSS (now WUZZ) in Saegertown-Meadville. Next stop in 1979 was WKSN (Ted Abbott hired me) back then. 1981 saw me head to Burbach's station in Parkersburg (95XIL). Then, 1982 crossed the street to WADC/WIBZ. By the fall of 1983, headed to K104 in Erie. Took over as the PD of WEYZ in 1988. Finished out my career from 1992-1997 at WXTA.

Did we cross paths? I worked at WWCB from 1980-82, then SEG, and then with Ted Abbot at WRIE, then went to Ithaca at the Burbach station there. Then back to Erie at Classy 100 before leaving for Pittsburgh.

Ken! Explain?

According to wikipedia, which is why I say 'reportedly', WQMU and WLCY now have HD radio channels. Forever and Clear Channel (CBS actually owns half of WDAD according to the article). I don't think it's a license agreement per se, because I don't see any record of it on the FCC website. So the "ownership" could be conditional on whether or not they continue with the HD channel agreement. HD is still kind of iffy, so who knows?
