finneran doesn't have van halen reunion plans in the works. unlike diamond dave, listeners and advertisers will get some effort from him to make the show work.

Will Finneran be going alone? I heard Ellen O'Brien with a woman Holly yesterday telling people Holly, the right-wing side of things, was being introduced Saturday since she would be 'helping Finneran out" this coming week.

Did Finn (not Finneran hear yesterday?) I only heard a funny bit about them not being ablet o get Deval to appear on Ellen's show even though Ellen takes his side on lots of issues.

I have no idea if Finneran could pull it off. But I'm looking forward to finding out since I am in the car then and have only BUR or music as options now.

I just love how all the disgruntled ex-radio employees and wannabees around here have prejudged this guy's on-air performance before he even opens the mike for the first time. I'm sure at the stroke of 9 AM on Monday there will be a pile-up here with the same so-called experts judging his performance by his first show and predicting doom and gloom before he has a chance to settle in and make the show his own. You guys just can't wait to see him "die" (show-biz term, not literal). You can't even give him a chance. Do you kick puppies and kittens for fun too?

I think Finneran will do decently for one reason and one reason only: as long as the radio ad industry zeroes in on Generation X, most whom are unemployable "live at home losers" (a la the cartoon terrorists) whose favorite stations are 'BOS, 'BCN, Mix, River, 'AAF and 'FNX (not much difference between those slacker stations), Kiss (OK, there is FINALLY some difference between Kiss and 'BCN/Mix/'AAF/'BOS) and Jam'n (whose listeners more or less tend to be gang members IMHO), I don't see Finneran doing that badly in the ratings.

And don't get me started on the classic rock stations (Mike, 'ROR, 'ZLX and sometimes 'BCN) playing the same Van Halen, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Guns'N'Roses, Who, etc.! ;D
