If they're playing music, will they be hiring or keeping some of their local on-air talent ?
Who's the PD/GM ?

The PD remains the same, Chris ( I forget his last name, was mentioned on allaccess). I believe the local talent of JC, Steffani, and Fathead are out.

I hope they position their music like Real Radio in orlando does. That station has found the right balance between great rock music and great fm talk personalities. I just hope the talk portion of the format isnt always all syndicated. We need some local flava for Free FM. All the other Free FMs have at least one local personality, I don't think it should be any different for phoenix.

Actually, no. Leykis may be considered a local personality in LA and parts of North County in the San Diego area, but obviously it's not a local show. LA, SD, and now Phoenix share the once local Frosty, Heidi and Frank show which may be regional but is no longer local in focus. SD and Phoenix both clear Phil Hendrie at night, which means Conway and Whitman are the only local show on KLSX during the week, and the only local show among the three stations. KIFR/SF is much more local, as are the midwest and east coast FreeFMs, but the approach is a bit different there.

Both Leykis and the Triplets show are considered local at KLSX, at any rate... even though Leykis actually broadcasts from Westwood One's facilities.

Leykis does frequent local promotions in the Ell Lay market, and considers 97.1 his "flagship". It's a huge, important market for him. He pays attention to his KLSX listener base and engages them frequently in his reindeer games.

FH&F are likely still considered local for KLSX, despite the syndication to SD and now Phoenix. I'm curious how the addition of other markets will affect their show. Since they do more lifestyle talk than anything, I don't think it'll affect more than how they say the name of the show.

Unlike Leykis, whose primary employer is still WW1, FH&F are employed by KLSX and just happen to be heard on two other Free FM stations (including Phoenix come 1/3). I don't think they're going through even WW1 for this effort.

As far as someone like Phil Hendrie goes, although he did get his start in this incarnation on KFI and is still in Los Angeles, he's mostly only technically a local show for new home KLAC/570. It's all in the perception.

And I agree that Free FM/Phoenix should throw in at least one local show at some point.
