The NAB screamed for years that a new band of digital only channels would destroy the radio industry,
orphan trillions of dollars in broadcast and receiver equipment, worse than the move of the FM band from
42-50 Mhz.
My little $100 Accurian tabletop radio has worked reliably for 6 years or so, likewise those of 4 friends (2 technical
types and 2 musicologist types)
Other than AM HD at night not being a good idea, it works well. Nowhere NEAR the engineering compromise of FM
analog stereo with a -23dB change in S/N ratio ... same as a 200 times difference in transmitter power.
