Will Howard Stern boot Paul and Al off the air?

Clear Channel leaves open that possibility.

John Hogan says (in a statement quoted by Business Week) that Clear Channel “would be the most logical company for [Stern] to optimize his exposure and financial return.” The radio division CEO says “We clearly have the willingness and the financial wherewithal to consider high-profile talent” – including Stern, should he be interested in leaving Sirius XM when his deal expires this December

So if that happens I think it's a safe bet that Clear Channel will wipe out local morning talent to pave the way for Stern. They are going to want to make this as attractive as a deal as they can for Howard. Maximizing his exposure would obviously be the plan.

So if Howard does make that move when his contract is up..... you could end up hearing something like this at the following link

Well... being on Clear Channel would make him a bad bad boy again, and he would like that, I think, more than the freedom of Sirius.

I think maybe putting him on WHJJ might be more likely. Then you might have a strong argument for putting HJJ on 93.3.

What Clear Channel stations are in Boston? If Howard comes to clear channel he certainly will show up at some station nearby.

Stern still has 11 months to negotiate something with Sirus/XM if he chooses; his last contract with CBS/Infinity went down to the wire before he left for Sirus...why he would want to come back to terrestrial radio? If Stern is smart, he redesigns his website and sells a subscription service on it, on which he alone controls the content and collects the revenue..Jerry Del Colliano, who writes 'Inside Music Media', already has clients doing something similar in various markets, and they're making money..

Rush Limbaugh already does something similar through his own website..replaying and stockpiling his show...if Premire ever wanted to kill the current deal with him, Limbaugh would already have the means by which to carry on entirely on his own..

That's the model of the future...coming back to terrestrial radio, which is a medium dying a slow death, is the past..

None that would broadcast the show.
JAMN' 94.5
KISS 108
News-Talk 1200 (Launching Soon Currently Rumba 1200)
Mia 1430

I'm not so sure about that. While I wouldn't go around messing with what seems to be working for Kiss-108 or Jam'n 94.5.....Howard Stern would be just what the doctor ordered for start-up News-Talk 1200. With Howard in morning drive....Rush in mid-day....and Hannity in afternoon drive....it gives WXKS a decent shot at competing with 680 WRKO and 96.9 FM-Talk.

I'll give you a good reason why he might leave. Well I'll even give you two. MONEY and EXPOSURE. Howard is just like anyone else. People will jump ship and go to whoever offers them the most money. Secondly.... Howard is well aware that his audience is only a fraction of what it once was. I've heard him say that he doesn't care if he's only broadcasting to two people. He enjoys the freedom that he now has. I believe this to be a half truth. Yeah of course he loves the freedom that he now has. But I call BS on him not caring that his audience has decreased by millions of people. Nobody wants to lose the popularity that they once had. Especially people in radio who often have large egos. If Howard can pull off a big payday and gain lots of listeners on top of it, I'm sure he's not going to close the door on such an offer. Those dollar signs will dance around in Howard's head until a return to terrestrial radio no longer seems like such a bad idea. By the end of the year we'll know for sure who came to the table with the best offer.

What if Clear Channel distributed Howard thru
their Premiere Radio division ? Then they wouldn't
have to put him on only CC stations (like Rush).

This way they wouldn't have to mess with success
on Kiss or Jamn.

If this to happen and and CC cramed Howard down each markets throat similar to what Citadel did with Imus.B101 could be a possibility. B101 ran Imus for a couple of years and as a side note B101 was the first station I heard Eminum's "Real Slim Shady".Imus ,when the song came out played it in its entirely alot.

So by a stretch Eminem was played on B101 via Imus. Im sure other songs have popped up that would be odd to hear at the time but this sticks out for me.

I honestly don't think Howard will go back to regular radio. He has talked all week about how other companies have shown an interest in him, but he isn't really interested himself. He likes working for Sirius where he has total freedom to do whatever he wants. Plus they have two 24 hour channels dedicated to just him. Plus he only works four days a week. I'm thinking that it would have to be a dam good offer for him to change his mind. The more I hear Howard talk, the more I doubt a move to regular radio is going to happen.
