Will iHeart Radio brands will be replacing low rated Clear Channel Stations

I thought about this for awhile and was wondering if Clear Channel is going to flip more of their stations formats that are failing in the ratings. They flipped WXKS 1200 AM about four months ago from a Talk format to a Comedy format, that rebroadcasts the 24/7 Comedy Radio on iHeart Radio, and just three days ago they flipped WHBA's Variety format, which is now a Electronic Dance format, that rebroadcasts ''Evolution'', which is also a brand on iHeart. What i'm saying is that maybe we'll see more of these iHeart radio formats/brands in the not to distant future, maybe in 2013?

Those 2 stations aren't the only stations playing IHR national broadcasts... 96.1WSRS HD2 is actually Pride Radio which is also an IHR national station... Been on for more than a couple of years

Pride Radio actually pre-dates iHeartRadio. Pride launched in '06 right around the time that a lot of the CC stations started adding HD, and has been on 'SRS as long. Back then, Pride Radio and other networks that fed HD subchannels were run by the Format Lab. Eventually (2008) Pride and the other networks were folded into the iHeartRadio (originally iHeartMusic) platform.

In response to the original post, I think you'll see a lot of iHR programming on lesser AM's and unprofitable FMs, like some of the smaller signal-challenged class A's. There's some innovative programming being done with some of these content initiatives, so it's not a total loss.

The bigger signals are more likely to just see more use of Premium Choice programming, which is actually pretty customizable if the station has a creative PD. It's still not my preference, but what do I know? Clear Channel runs the radio world, so what they say, goes.

Being on an HD2 is like being on CB channel 19. We're talking stations that the public can easily hear.

Before everyone starts going on about HD radio, the bottom line is that as of right now, it's very hard to get a radio. Some higher end cars are starting to include it but until everything from a Kia to a Bentley has it standard, HD2 or 3 is irrelevant.

Here in Providence, WWBB & WSNE-FM run IHR for the most part, outside of 1 show on each station. WHJJ & WHJY don't (only WHJY is really live & local).

It's a mix. Program Directors still control the music that they schedule during their local dayparts, but there are some CC "mandates" when songs must be added. Only the Premium Choice hours aren't scheduled locally. Of course, lazy PD's can just pick up the PC playlist. IMO, CC Providence is INCREDIBLY lazy with their PC programming.

It isn't anywhere near as bad as it is over at Cumulus, however. ALL of those music decisions, 100%, come from Atlanta. There's essentially no need for PD's at Cumulus stations, and I don't know why they still hire them. If I had to chose between CC and Cumulus programming, I'd take CC any day.
