Peoria had CHR. 98.5 WRVP and 101.1 WPPY "The Party" Both simmulcasted. Mostly jockless. Owned by Regent.

WRVP went satellite CCM
WPPY went to simmulcast of their AM religious station.

Ran from 1999 (first with 98.3, later 101.1 joining in) and ended around 2004. Guess it didn't do too well.<P ID="signature">______________

Tell ya what... you send us a good country station,
one that plays Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Charlie Pride,
Bob Wills, Dolly Parton, Tom T. Hall, Patsy Cline,
Dave Dudley, Jeannie C. Riley, The Cowboy Copas,
The Western Dixie Band, Porter Wagoner, Roy Clark,
Spade Cooley, Bill Anderson, Bill Monroe, Arthur Mometer,
and Hank Williams -- plus an oldies station that doesn't
omit the best rock, pre-65 -- and you can have all our
rock, urban, pop, Christian, Spanish, and smooth jazz
stations. Plus Clear Channel to boot.

They need to bring back another type of KZ-93 (currently Big-Fm 93.3 oldies). KZ was a giant CHR from the 80's through 1994 not only in Peoria but all over Central Illinois. Once they left the air for HOT AC Mix 93.3, and now oldies, no CHR has done well in Peoria (KZ-94.3, bad attempt to copy the original and horrible signal, and The Party, two bad signals and no personality).

On a side note, Peoria does have a Contemporary Christian Music station, 91.5 WCIC. It's not a HIT music format, but splits between AC/HOT AC in sound. They used to have smooth jazz on 94.3 I believe a few years ago. That frequency used to be all 80's at one time as well. It's cursed! So is Peoria radio.
