Will KTU revert Current to Classic Dance back?

Folks, is KTU gonna revert Current to Classic Dance back since especially on March 7, 2005 to January 1, 2007 got Mix 102.7 by playing Classic Dance of the '70s & '80s of all time and since especially on Feburary 11, 2008 got a new station called Pulse 87 by playing Freestyle, and '90s Current Dance of all time.

i don't understand what you're trying to say....
mix 102.7 struggled to find it's niche and identity. even calling themselves Mix when they were a reincarnated jammin' 105 didn't make sense.... ktu on the other hand- ktu's 90% classic, 10% new after every other top-40/current station beats to death a song and hands the remains to ktu in hopes of reviving. pulse 87 is finally smoothing out nicely. i'm more impressed w/ them today then i was the first month of their launch. granted, they're still playing out a few key songs that i find myself turning off.

I would REALLY love to answer this question, but I can't make out what you are saying here. Are you asking if 'KTU may consider going back to current dance???

If that's the question, the only advantage 'KTU has over Pulse 87 is the signal. But honestly, even if 'KTU went to current dance tomorrow, it's really "moot" because they certainly weren't fast on the currents when they DID play about 30 percent of it in their format before the tweak whereas Pulse is about 80 percent current intensive.

As much of a dance music fan that I am, I don't think this market could take two rhythmic stations of the same caliber. It couldn't take it when 'KTU was competing against Mix 102.7.

This is perhaps my second post regarding 'KTU since Pulse 87 launched. To me, 'KTU doesn't matter. They could play polka for all I care, heck, we got Pulse 87!! THAT is New York's dance station!

I doubt KTU would flip to a Pulse like current dance station, just not enough of the money demo audience out there for it right now, anyway even when they were #1 they never were dominated by currents, it was always some form of a format blend. As they stand, they have solid ratings, wasn't this last quarterly like their highest book since before the "tweak" to their format as a recurrent/classic/pop-current dance rhythmic a/c station...

As for Pulse, it seems to me there are problems on the station... jocks missing breaks, and dead or dry seguing into commercials, the repetition is like z100 on dance steriods, and its starting to feel like a KTU castoff party again (remember thats how Mix originally struggled with its identity)... not only does Pulse have to deal with the former KTU jock vibe, BUT also the fact its morning show targets a completely different audience than its music. Add in a signal that is so spotty and even non existant in parts of the metro and its easy to see struggles ahead at its current state.

Classic Dance as in true classic dance? Or audience tested standards that appeal to middle aged Caucasian housewives in the suburbs?

If you want to hear "Classic Dance", tune into Kiss-FM on Saturday nights for Ruben Toro's show. That's dance music.

What? Classic Dance on 98.7 KissFM at late nights? Sorry I have to sleep at 12AM until wake up 6AM everday like turn on Digital TV itself at 6AM until turn off itself at 12AM because a lot of people don't like to listen and make noise music at late nights at all, so i want to thank everybody that I listen to Classic Dance on KTU since 1996 until for the last 11 years since September 2, 2007, so forget about it.

I dont think so. Since Clear Channel has a mind of its own, they dont know how to promote current and future dance music.

Even the management doesnt want to promote newer music because they want money..It is money the labels dont have.

As for KTU and Clear Channel, their safe music is more crap than what Pulse 87 has.

Dont let the number fool you, their demographics suck and so does corporate radio.

AlvaJr... are you the long lost brother of Disney fanatic?

as the late Rick Sklar once said to me, "we're not in the record business, we're in the radio business"

which, IIRC, was "updated" by Cousin Brucie the day that W-N-B-C "went off"; Brucie said, and I think I'm quoting pretty much verbatim -

"we used to be in the radio business, now we're in the business of radio"....

my very first celebrity interview was for ROCK in `1970, while still in high school;
I wanted to run a Bruce Morrow/Scott Muni interview side by side;
Morrow said yes, Muni said no(I did interview Scott years later); I remember that "Band Of Gold" by Freda Payne was #1 in NY when I went up there,sat in the studio,had a great conversation with Morrow and then had face time with Sklar;
'when I questioned why the limited playlist, I got the famous reply; I'm sure I'm not the first or last person he said it to,he explained that it was a business, he wasn't there to sell records, he was there to sell Stridex medicated pads; I'll never forget that day....

If you want to hear a Dance Station done right, listen to the stream from the station in SF.

Energy927fm.com. They do it right...NY should try and get these guys in SF to come out there and consult!
