Will LEE Rodgers return to SF radio

I went to a focus group on radio once. The people who ran it thought my comments were so valuable that they begged my to go on the net from time to time to give my insight. Since I make $67,456 every 1 7/8 months (do the math)... I really do not need the money and if I want to "hear myself talk" I do it in the shower or talk to my dog.

Fortunately for the thin-skinned, the world of talk radio (especially if you do not take callers or have guests that disagree with you) is a world where ideas and people you do not agree with can be handled by pressing a button and subjecting them to a pejorative like "creep" or "leftest."

If someone wants to be remembered by a childish Internet screed of name calling inter-spaced with purloined stories from the "Drudge Report" that is their business. But as Truman said, if you do not like the heat get out of the kitchen.

Keep in mind as well, some people got up to 65% of their Cobra Health insurance extension paid for by the government under the stimulus legislation after the econonmy tanked.

AFTRA was set up in the 30's by a bunch of "leftists" and Cobra passed in 1986 was pushed by "leftists" in Congress. Hooray! the leftists saved Lee Rodgers a million dolars in medical bills because of their UNION and their medical insurance legislation. That is after the big corporation dumped him

Case NOT closed.

Leftists? I wasn't around then but the way I heard it It was just of bunch of talents, like Bud Collier who wanted to get a fair deal from the networks.

Jerry Gordon

George Heller, Edgar Bergman (Candice's dad) , Eddie Cantor, Jack Benny, etc. influential in Aftra-Sag (affiliated with the afl-cio) founding.

And it was the National Labor Relations Act from Roosevelt that made such organization possible. A Bunch of "leftists" pushed labor laws, labor organizations, health insurance that got Rodgers the $238k in back pay, the medical insurance that HE said saved him, and all the extras that make for a good retirement.

Rodgers, a sad figure on the scene, like a washed up boxer, spending his sunset years blaming certain politicians for the world's problems.

Who is Edgar BERGMAN?

IMHO MAYBE 1% of the people who post here and hide behind initials know what the hell they're talking about or they just enjoy making up shit.

Right, Bergman and Eastland were on the radio in the same ERA ...Rodgers came along sometime after Macaroni.

(Boy these Lee Rodgers groupies need to get a sense of humor.)

Bergman and Eastland had Earned Run Averages? I didn't know either of them played baseball. Was Bergman's bat fashioned from Charlie McCarthy's head? Both are wood products.

I loved those old Bergman films.

Funny, after using his Union to get $238k in back pay and using the great AFTRA medical plan to deal with $ 1 million dollars of medical bills, Rodgers trashes the "Twinkies" Unions for trying to maintain similar rights and benefits for their members in his newly revived blog.

(As far as "paying for" medical insurance, medical insurance is always paid for directly or indirectly by someone, employee, employer, union, etc.)

It was not the Unions that decided to keep making Twinkies, bloated American Cars in the 70's or air angry talk radio, it of course was management.

(If he is as well off as he claims to be, you would think he would get a better email and web company, than the cheapo ones he uses.)

The people that would not pay Lee his $238k in "back pay" were not "leftists" or the "government," it was a CORPORATION.

When Lee was in the hospital and people wanted to "pull the plug",the people who wanted to do that were not"leftists or the government, they were non-profit or for profit corporations.

Of course now he takes to his website and trashes "Twinkies" employees for trying to maintain the same medical insurance that saved his life. One standard for them, another for you LEE?

LEE gets Government Medical care???:

A few hours after this is written I will be undergoing a minor, routine (to medical professionals, almost all procedures are “routine”) adventure at the University of Arizona Medical Center.
I am assured that there's a 97% chance it will be uneventful.
I mention this not to promote a pity-party; I long ago learned this lesson: “Never tell people about your troubles. Half aren't interested and much of the other half are glad you're getting what you deserve.”
Instead, I mention it to lay a serious guilt-trip on my sainted Dr. Laura by letting her know that if things go awry, she will compromise a serious fact-finding mission to the Caribbean three weeks hence.
My words for medical professionals to live by: “Physician, heal thyself. But first, heal me.”

So Government is bad private sector is good LEE get medical care from a government facility? Plenty of Private sector Hospitals out there LEE.

What people like Rodgers (i.e: most conservatives) have consistently failed to see, and this past election proves - is that most people want a certain amount of "big government." They want their social security, medicare, and prescription drug coverage to be there when they are seniors - they don't want a "voucher" and they don't want "tax credit" - they want seamless coverage.

Yes - if you ask people what they think about "big government, they will say they despise it, but that's not consistent with what they actually feel. It's like Congress - if you poll any random sample of people, they will talk about how much they hate Congress, but they don't mean THEIR representative, just everybody else's. That's why 80% or more of Congresspeople are re-elected.

My mother-in-law passed away after a long illness, and about $200,000 in hospital expenses. You'd better believe that I was grateful for Medicare.
