Will michael savage last on whas???

John ziegler didn't last and he was not near as controversial as savage.I think whas/clear channel made a mistake picking savage to fill the old joe elliott slot!!!Makes no sense i bet there revenue from the 9-12 slot will drop but they may make it up since savage does not cost as much as joe elliott did but even bill o reilly would have made better sense.Even though i am a democrat i like his radio show a centrist conservative but he really needs to stop with the war on christmas.Such a petty thing to talk about!!!

Time will tell we shall see but he keeps his name in the news i give him that but not in a good way.

Opinions...

Thanks hotpatrick out

He's the 3rd most listened to talk show host in America behind Rush and Sean. He is thinking about retiring (yea right). Plus his contract is up in 2008. Anyway, I can't guess how long he will last. I just wonder if Clear Channel had someone else in mind before they put him on?

He's cheep. That's all they care about. I doubt WHAS is paying for the show considering it's a Premier show.

I just looked it up clear channel pays something for michael savage since premier does not own the show talk radio network does the same people that own laura ingraham and rusty humpries and mancow.

If it's like the agreements Talk Radio Network has with other stations, all WHAS has to do is run the TRN network commercials within the show. It's straight barter -- unless TRN is compensating WHAS for the net spots since they're a 50,000 watt station in a decent-sized market (similar to what the major TV networks do for the local affiliates).

Why would TRN PAY WHAS or any station to air there talk shows? I don't understand.

Because if they get enough 50,000 watt clear channel stations like WHAS airing the show, they can make some serious corn with the rates they charge for network spots. MOST of the time, it's strictly barter. You can have the show as long as you air our spots.

Yes. Clear Channel could care less about ratings in that time slot.

A few years ago when Bill O'Reilly made his radio debut, they couldn't get a New York station to pick him up...until the syndicator (Westwood One) paid WOR to run it.

WHAS is giving up lots of local commercial avails to run a syndicated show in that time slot. When you're local, all of the commercial breaks are yours to sell. With syndicated programming that number is cut by 1/4 to 1/3 or more.

BTW, just heard that WSB in Atlanta (another 50,000 watt station) which runs Michael Savage from 7-10p is going back to local programming during that time slot after the first of the year. WSB is owned by Cox.

Yeah John, I heard Chris Krok got the boot at WSB from the 10p-2a slot. I wonder if they will put Savage 10p-1a now?
