Will Oldies 103.3 ever return to normal programming?

They've been running specialty features non-stop since they flipped back from all-Christmas. First the top 500, then the #1 weekend, and now the A-Z has been going on for over a week. Are they that desperate for ratings? Or are they planning a tweak to the format (most likely more 80s) that isn't ready to go yet?

There's more variety and music on the A-Z than their "normal" format had, (and no syndicated Tom Kent weeknights at the moment), so I'm not complaining.

It seems like it's back to normal as of a few days ago. I like its variety of music, reminds me of the late Sunny 104.5 in Philly.

No, they're still doing the A-Z thing. Maybe it'll return to normal after this run through it is done, they're on the Ms now.

I noticed that, within each letter, they're not playing the songs alphabetically. They're playing the songs grouped by the first letter of the song title, but within each first letter group, it seems that they're playing the songs in any order as long as the title starts with the same first letter.

Not only that, they've even messed with the titles a little bit, too. For instance they played "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" as an "H" song. (I looked it up in Whitburn to be sure; the song officially starts with the word I.) Why would they do that? Also, while they were in the H section, they played Hooked On A Feeling by Blue Swede. I remember thinking it would be cool if they segued into the BJ Thomas version but they went on to another song.

Since you brought that up, it would be interesting if they really were playing their whole playlist strictly alphabetically, because there are many songs that they play two different versions of by different artists that would be played back to back if they were, but they're not.

"I Heard It Through The Grapevine" would be just one more example, because they play both the Marvin Gaye version and the Gladys Knight & The Pips version. (I don't think they play the Creedence Clearwater Revival version, though WROR does).

Slightly off-topic, but oldies1033.com is showing Tom Kent as being on the air tonight from 7pm to midnight while Patrick Callahan is indeed on as he normally is. And Patrick is still listed on the jock bio page.

Three versions of A to Z is two too many. I'm not surprised Kent is on five hours now either, he's cheaper than a live body on air.
