And, I can EASLIY see K-Earth 101.1 and KFRC 99.7 going away soon. They both don't do well. Though, KOOL-FM Phoenix and WOMC/Detroit will probably be around for a while longer. Those three do pretty well, though I'm not that sure about WODS in Boston. How do they do, revenue-wise?

Well, K-Earth WON'T go Jack--Infinity just changed 93 FM to Jack. If K-Earth changes, it will be to something else, maybe Spanish.

For a number of years, KRTH has been the poster child of why oldies stations are dying. 250 song playlists, tired imaging. It took a while to understand that the liner "When you hear the same old song, you know you're listening to KRTH 101!" wasn't a promo for a Four Tops record, it was a programming edict.

I asked the same question last year when the oldies station in Charlotte switched formats. Now we know the answer:Yes! This reminds me of 1990 when all of the easy listening stations bailed out of the format.

When I originally asked the question some people thought that CBS-FM would be one of the longterm survivors. It's sad, but nothing would shock me now. There's a 100% chance that more will follow, the question is who will be the select few that don't follow?

Wonder when KOOL 94.5 and Oldies 104.3 WOMC will be hiJACKed?

sure

Probably. A format flagship like WCBS-FM dropping oldies will be like getting permission for others to dump the format. Sharp, resourceful operators NOT among the top tier of major groups will then take Oldies on and the bleeding will slow.

Both Phoenix and Detroit already have Variety Hits stations, so I would be surprised if either KOOL or WOMC goes Jack. I hope they both stick with oldies as they are leading stations in the format.

It WOuldnt Shock me to See WOMC try spanish or something i dont believe detroit has a Major market Spanish Station

It was not that long ago, that WQSR was not being considered to change or WGLD in Indianapolis because their rating were too good and they were at the top of their market.

Now, I would not be surprised at anything.
