Will PPM cause weaker rimshots to go dark?

Then... there's 104.3, which if it drops "B," would be far better off going back to being a simulcast for 103.5, whatever format it holds. I have no earthly idea why Saga split that off from relaying 103.5 in the first place - even though the radio-locator signal maps are for entertainment purposes only, 104.3's signal just looks awful and doesn't come close to reaching Columbus.

My guess is that 104.3 was split off as a placeholder for the pulled-from-107.9 Classic Hits format while Saga sought an upgrade for 104.3.  But for one reason or another, all of those upgrade attempts have failed.  Don't know if they've got any other upgrade strategies to try for 104.3.  If not, I agree that the only Columbus-focused option for 104.3 that is even remotely viable would be in a simulcast role.

Hey, Nathan and Roo.

We've been discussing in another thread about Ohio Media Watch saying new domains have been established for 103.5 and 104.3 as “1035FMTalkColumbus.com" and "1043FMTalkColumbus.com.”

Saga owns slightly more conservative talk stations than liberal talk stations, but the liberal talkers it has in markets like western Massachusetts have been around nearly five years. Saga has competing talk stations in Bellingham, Washington, and Charlottesville, Virginia. Charlottesville's station has also been around nearly five years.

My full commentary here:

I know a lot of operators want to compete in the big dog market. But honestly, I'm not sure why 104.3 isn't programmed to skim the cream from the top of the Marysville, Delaware and Marion markets both in revenues and listeners. Robb Case did a very successful version of that strategy with QT 106.3 in Ottawa. They skimmed the cream off the Findley, Lima and surrounding areas. Sales numbers were impressive. And for a small station, it sounded pretty good.

Yes, you have to have that four letter word that has 5 letters, staff, but strategically and appropriately staff up and get some hungry folks and let them get creative. At this point, it's got nothing to lose.

Just repeating that I did not originate that report, and used the word "if" about 10 times in my item. :D

Proper credit on the domain registrations goes to a competitive site to this one, which I think will get clipped if I mention it.
