Will Pro Wrestling ever return to syndication?

Besides Ring of Honor Wrestling (ROH) on syndication (not seen in many areas) ,i wished both WWE & TNA can air a syndicated program on weekends even bring back WWE Superstars and TNA Xplosion on weekends to at least fill 1hr of airtime besides airing informicals and repeats of the same Law and Order (original) & CI to fill air time. Even air either a WWE ,TNA or ROH TV show after Saturday Morning cartoons on most CW stations and on some of FOX-owned MyNetwork TV channels (i.e. WWOR would benefit the most by having a 3hr block on either saturdays or sundays with WWE Superstars ,TNA Xplosion and ROH Wrestling).

I believe Ring of Honor is a Sinclair property, and airs almost exclusively on their stations. But I do miss all the old feds with their shows... NWA, AWA, WCW, etc. And of course all the local/regional wrestling shows.

Last I heard, the WWE programs previously seen in syndication are still in production and shown worldwide, ironically NOT in the U.S. However, I suppose if enough people asked for it, 'Afterburn' and 'The Bottom Line' could return to syndication, or maybe My Network TV, which ran 'Smackdown' from 2008 to 2010...

Too Bad Sinclair don't own stations in New York ,Boston ,Washington DC ,Philadelphia
,Hartford ,CT ,Los Angeles ,San Francisco. ROH would be a great addition to the weekend tv lineups in those areas.

There's just not enough interest in the WWE C-shows to put them into syndication. They're all available (along with Superstars and NXT) on WWE.com and YouTube.

Maybe wwe.com should make a poll asking if fans(WWE Universe) wants to catch Superstars and NXT on their local stations on weekends. Same for TNA and ROH as well. IMO WCBS-owned WLNY ,WNYW-owned WWOR would benefit from having WWE Superstars and NXT ,TNA Xplosion and ROH Wrestling on their weekend schedules worlds better than having informcials at 11am or noon.

Superstars and NXT may make it back to television, if and when WWE Network ever launches, which originally had a target date of this past April 1st. The problem lies, from things I've heard and read, is not lining-up distribution (that's more or less taken care of), but what direction does Vince McMahon want to take the network--either strictly wrestling (or, "sports entertainment" as he refers to it), or a mix of wrestling and reality programming (and they do have a reality show lined-up featuring legendary wrestlers living together).

...IMO, the only real chance that pro wrestling will ever return to syndication will be if one of the current NWA promotions -- most likely David Marquez's NWA Pro Wrestling, which runs NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood on KDOC/v56 Anaheim -- or CMLL (already on LATV) gives it a shot. In the months before it scrapped its Spanish-language schedule for Me TV, what was then KBBC/20 Bishop CA and repeaters KNET-CA/25 and KNET-LP/27 Los Angeles and KMRZ-LD/v55 Banning were airing the New Jersey-based NWA On Fire weekly shows...

Does Ring of Honor all ready do that besides the fact their TV don't air in the New York City
,Boston ,Philadelphia ,Chicago ,Baltimore ,Washington DC ,Los Angeles metro areas.

WWE The Bottom Line used to be on KSTW 11 here in Seattle at 11:30pm Saturday nights, around 2004 or so. But pro wrestling is gone on local broadcast TV here in Seattle now. Maybe NWA can try something on the MNTV or CW affiliates...

The Dallas/Ft. Worth market is the 5th largest TV market in the United States. The next generation of Von Erichs, Ross and Marshall, have already been wrestling in Japan and have been wrestling in the St. Louis area for Harley Race. If the NAWA, which syndicates a show locally on one of the UHF stations in the DFW area and broadcasts on YouTube can lure the Von Erichs and maybe have some shows at the Will Rogers Coliseum or maybe Billy Bob's Texas this DFW area would be rockin' and rollin' again like it was in the late 1970's/early to mid 1980's.

My guess is however that the Dallas area will prove to have too many painful memories for Kevin and his two sons will either go to WWE where Vince McMahon will make jobbers out of them or to TNA where they will be misused like Lacey was.

But a Dallas-based modern version of the Von Erichs could light that area right back up again. When the WWE does do the occasional Raw from American Airlines Center there are as many Von Erich signs in the crowd as there are anything else including John Cena.

Kevin, Kerry, David, Mike, and Chris were so popular that around 1983 or 1984 they went to Six Flags there in Arlington and within the hour 2 million fans had descended on the theme park. And this was before the Internet was around to follow every move they made! Crowd control, what crowd control with that many people?! They had to literally shut Six Flags down for the day! That's how popular they were back then and something like that could happen if the cards are played the right way.

During that period they were even bigger than the Cowboys (and that's saying a lot).

WWE returning to OTA TV with WWE Main Event on ION in october and if u get ROH in your area nice. All we need is a TNA TV show on OTA TV.

Sure do miss Gordon T. Solie he was the best.
...Solie (Florida, Georgia, WCW) was the best of the Southern territorial commentators. Rodger Kent in Minneapolis (AWA) was by far the best of the Northern territorial commentators (provided he didn't drink too much of his lunch before the taping, heh heh). Bob Caudle (Mid-Atlantic, WCW) was pretty good, too. But, of course, that's a discussion for the Classic TV board ;-) ......

Ring of Honor is owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, so ROH programming is only shown in markets where Sinclair has stations.

WWE Superstars and NXT were taken off of television because of low ratings. Those programs are being shown on the WWE website.

This is the 21st century now. Pro wrestling does not need to be on OTA television, as the majority of people across the country have access to cable/satellite television and/or the internet.

WWE will also have a Saturday morning show (aimed at kids) on the CW this fall.

WWE should syndicate Superstars.

TNA is not allowed to do anything outside of Spike. One of their employees, Jeremy Borash did try to start a show called "All Wheels Wrestling" but it didn't work out for him.

Problem with syndication in for WWE now vs. 1989 is that it would not be the flagship show. It worked in 1989 because Superstats and Challenge were the A and B shows you had to see each week. That would not be the case today.

The trend in wrestling is live programming for the element of surprise.
