Will Rhythmic Oldies Return to Cincinnati?

Now that Radio One has purchased the Intellectual Properties of Mojo, I'm sure that there was bound to be speculation about Rhythmic Oldies in Cincinnati. The station had good ratings and strong cash flow all the way to the end. The real question in my mind is how long will it take Radio One to run the Mojo name into the ground? I do understand that the format will of course be Urban AC, a R1 staple. But for those of you who have not had the misfortune of watching R1 completely annihilate a great billing station, look at KKBT in Los Angeles. They shifted a mainstream Urban station billing over $40M per year to Urban AC (a poor one) despite the fact that there were already two established UACs in the market...and they are now seeing the rotten fruits of their labor. They even took away 4 hours of prime programming...PM drive...and put in a syndicated talker! Unbelievable! Now to the meat of my thought...Do you think that a low performing stick (WAQZ?) could flip to ROL? There is still an obvious format hole for ROL in Cincy...And BTW, good luck with Tom Joyner. I haven't been able to sit through even 15 minutes of his useless and tired banter without being totally annoyed and bored. I sincerely hope that R1 wasn't counting on a high percentage of loyal Mojo listeners to make the switch with them. They know that this new "Mojo" will be pretty much an imposter. Nice job of flushing a much needed $23M down the toilet, R1...Mojo, you will be missed!

I aree with you comments totally. Entercom is comming into the market soon so I don't look for either WAQZ or WGRR will flip to ROL unless they have a LMA before the sale clears the FCC. One of the first things they should look at once they take over is flipping 97.3 to ROL.

The new Mojo will bring a few of the former MOJO 949 listeners and not many willl stick around. R1 basicly killed the Jammin oldies format as it stands now.
