I heard them many times on JSE, their main claim to fame is talk, my question is, are they going to chat or play music on YSP. If their show is going to be a talk based format following the other talk jocks during the day would this mean YSP is dumping music on the weekdays. I know Free in NYC is in the works to dump the music. This would be a good thing, for we all know and this has been discussed many times, if YSP gets the hell out of the music business, it would free some other station to flip to Active/Alternative. YSP has been holding up the move with just enough music. The music YSP plays does not jive with the talk format, something has got to give either talk or rock. I know for a fact the Beasleys have been waiting with baited breath for some time now, but only time will tell..

This is exactly what i was thinking. I can kinda go both ways on this, im all about station loyalty and am glad that i can listen to the talkers during that day and then the music is still there at night and weekends. BUT. I agree that them dumping the music would FREE (ba-dum-tss) it up for another station to jump onto. All-in-all, I guess them going all talk is the best.

On Scotty and Alex, http://www.scottyandalex.com/newhome.htm has some sort of press release/article. It's descriptive word for the guys' position is "hosts" and makes no mention of music, yet lists all the other talkers on the station.

Only Monday will we know.

The music 'YSP plays appeals to the exact same demo the hot talk does...

There's nothing stopping another station from going Active Rock... When and if the time and market conditions are right, it'll happen...

I dunno, people I talk to who love the music, cannot stand the talk, but they have no where to go unless they have the bird. For myself, I like the music but cannot tolerate talk and sports, so like many others, if we are not near XM/Sirius or anything satellite, have to depend on MMR in an emergency. YSP has alienated their audiance and thus is failing. I do think if YSP drops the music someone will pick it up in a flash.
