Will Seinfeld reruns suffer?

I'm wondering with all the outrage expressed over the very unfortunate, very stupid comments made by Michael Richards aka Kramer, will the ratings of Seinfeld reruns suffer? And as everyone was listening to the news articles, did they hear the name Kramer more than they heard Michael Richards. The following comment is hypothetical. Makes me wonder if Henry Winkler did the same thing, would you be hearing more about comments made by Fonzie than Henry Winkler.

Excellent question, I wondered about this too. I don't think it'll hurt. I don't think Seinfeld appealed to the African American audience all that much. at least not in reruns. I expect it would hurt the show much more if it were not almost a decade old or more

The fact that the first seven seasons of Seinfeld are now available on DVD, uncut and commerical-free, will hurt syndication ratings more than Richards' outburst.

Please. Its over. Michael Richards was a mediocre one trick pony, who on the night of his "display" had no future bookings anywhere; was searching for a new agent, and simply played the one card he had left...

No such thing as bad publicity, they say.

Now, may we please close the book on not only this show, but his career?

Thank you.

Actually, sales for those DVDs have been up since the tirade (according to "Showbiz Tonight"); dunno about the syndie rerun ratings.

Just my opinion, but I don't think it was the Michael Richards tirade that drove up sales of the "Seinfeld" DVD's.

When season 7 was released on November 21st, Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, Target, etc. dropped the price on the first 6 seasons dramatically. I wanted to buy the DVD sets, but they were regularly selling for $30-$40. Not a bad price point, but not one I was willing to pay.

Since season 7 came out, these retailers were selling seasons 1 - 6 for $20 - $25. And "Black Friday" sales dropped season 5 and 6 sets to $10 - $15 each!

Even amazon.com has dropped the price recently.

Better get used to it 20, our grandkids will be watching it just like we watched Lucy & Andy Griffith. It's a great show, and one of the few shows of the 90's that actually stepped out of the norm once in awhile. Unlike some of the crap like Melrose Place, 90210, Alf, Baywatch, Caroline In The City (ewww)...and others.

Remember, it's just a show about nothing.
