Will Smooth Jazz come back to D/FW

Do you think that Clear Channel will put their BA Smooth Jazz Radio Network on the air in this Market? If so what station would be a viable option for a flip?

I was just thinking about that yesterday. Seems like one of the lower-rated urban stations would like a semi-guaranteed 3.0.

I dont think Radio One or Ken Dowe would do that. Besides with those crappy signals, you would not be able to enjoy the music and I don't think BA would the network on those bad sticks. I don't know the ratings for 97.1 but I think its perfect for the Smooth Jazz Radio Network.

Considering what is on it now,and how it has declined,it would not be a bad idea to convert it to smooth jazz. It was okay as "sunny"too, but we are talking about CC right? "Logic" is just a word in the dictionary to those folks.

I sure hope it will. I miss it tremendously.

But like someone said, CC and CBS radio are run by idiots that know nothing
about local radio programming.................

I'm VERY sick of KVIL (aka Lite FM) playing Christmas tunes all the time as
well...........what was the move behind "re-naming" the station? Everyone
knows it is still KVIL, which "used to be" on of the strongest radio stations
and BRANDS in the DFW area.............

Amen to that! KVIL was almost as well known as McDonald's. That's a brand and you don't change a brand to something as simple and forgettable as "Lite FM"!

Unless of course your brand sucks and nobody thinks highly of it anymore.

KVIL=Edsel.

Actually probably more like Cadillac. Something you're parents might have drove (or listened too)...Once THE gold standard for luxury cars, now it's a piece-of-crap that they're desperately trying to reinvent.

Much like KVIL.

Oh yeah, they were both nice back in the 70's and early 80's... But now? Won't catch me driving a cadillac and won't catch me tuned into KVIL...

For what it’s worth, the last time I was listening to The Oasis, they played This Is It from Kenny Loggins. That ain’t jazz in my book, that’s lite AC. I think it was better when it was primarily an instrumental station, sort of like an updated version of KOAX / KMEZ.

Alas those formats are long gone and I will confess I miss them.

But as is most often the case, all good things must end.

That's because CBS (Corporate BullSh!tt*rs) screwed with the brand and took the meat out of the Big Mac of radio stations in Dallas.

Kind of like when Coke made "New Coke", huh.

Yet the idiots at Coke were smarter than the ones at CBS, they went back to the old formula. :)

I don't have a problem with CBS blowing up the Oasis. The music was not true anymore in my opinion. Way too much R&B on the station for me. My thing is be who you say you are. If you are Smooth Jazz play smooth jazz only. If I want R&B, ill listen to the Groove or Suite 62 on XM. The UAC stations in this market suck and you can't hear them any way.

Exactly. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Have you seen BA's on air lineup? Fantastic!

http://www.broadcastarchitecture.com/home.html 8)

Allen Kepler's format has the potential to take off like Movin' but Smooth Jazz has the staying power where Movin' is a fad and will fade quickly and die a quick death. I emailed Mr. Kepler and he said they were talking with everyone in DFW they possibly could. I hope someone wakes up and jumps on BA's smooth jazz here. I suggested to a friend at CC Dallas to flip La P to Smooth Jazz 97.1 but i was told "It ain't gonna happen". I seriously hope they reconsider. As far as 94.5 and 105.7... too weak. Howz about Smooth Jazz 92.5? 93.3? 96.7? 98.3? 100.3? 103.3? 103.7? 107.5???? Any of these freqs would be a major improvement IMO.

Well Its sure is not going to happen on 107.5, 103.3 and 93.3. Maybe, just maybe Citadel will flip 96.7 to the format, but if you can't hear it anywhere whats the use.

The chances that Lenard might do this format on any of the LBI stations is somewhere south of NEVER.

Ya know... after two years with Sirius I dropprd them and have been trying my best to listen to FM again. About the ONLY thing there is for me to listen to is Jagger and Russ. I can't stand commercials! Hmmm, perhaps I need to give myself XM for Christmas ;)

XM is free thru your pc. Go to aol.com..radio or download winamp and go to aol radio. Then take a stereo "Y" cord insert the mini end into the pc headphone jack the rca left and right into an aux. port into your stereo receiver. There ya go!

Thanks. I actually get XM with my DirecTV. Suppose I could tape it and play it in my car's cassette deck... The poor man's XM for the auto. ;D
