Will Smooth Jazz radio ever return to Portland,Oregon?

In a few weeks I'm moving to Portland,Oregon from Los Angeles. I'm going to miss 94.7 The Wave in LA. Even though many smooth jazz radio stations are disseapering accross the country Smooth Jazz does well in Seattle,Phoenix, Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Francisco. With Seattle right down the road having a profitable smooth jazz station why can't portland have one? In the early 90s 106.7 was smooth jazz while clear channel tried the format on 105.9 a year ago and it didn't last.

Could CBS flip KHTS 106.7 back to smooth jazz because 105.9 competes with them?

You can always go get an HD radio and listen to the multicast channel, but I think you would be better off with satellite radio or getting something like an iPhone and streaming net radio.

You'd be better streaming net radio than tossing money after HD, which is corporate programming and just as conservative as regular radio. Watercolors has been changing over the last year or so and seems to be playing just singles and gradually paring down their playlist. XM in general has been tightening playlists and cutting down on innovation...if/when the merger goes through it will either go smooth A/C and start playing Lite crossover oldies or go away entirely as it duplicates Sirius' SJ channel.

Then again..if you enjoy the WAVE, the corporate smooth A/C format available on HD will probably work
because you're fine with every other song being a pop vocal

We are on a 100 k commercial HD side channel and actually folks are listening. Found it very easy to get them to take us on. They are starving for programming other than a jukebox hooked up to a transmitter.

It's an ownership group however not the big 3. We are also trying to get a jazz tv show off the ground and looking to run on a digital HD TV side channel. We have a pilot still pitching. There is some interest because most of these channels are running test patterns.
