Will Smooth Jazz radio ever return to Portland?

In a few weeks I'm moving to Portland,Oregon from Los Angeles. I'm going to miss 94.7 The Wave in LA. Even though many smooth jazz radio stations are disseapering accross the country Smooth Jazz does well in Seattle,Phoenix, Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Francisco. With Seattle right down the road having a profitable smooth jazz station why can't portland have one? In the early 90s 106.7 was smooth jazz while clear channel tried the format on 105.9 a year ago and it didn't last.

Could CBS flip KHTS 106.7 back to smooth jazz because 105.9 competes with them?

Every now and then i like to take a look at the oregon boards...

In responce to a smooth jazz station,

You got one!

- Portland, OR
- 103.3-2
- KKCW-HD2 FM
- Smooth Jazz
- Clear Channel

Ya got HD Radio?!

I actually say that seriously, while HD AM has a few problems, HD FM is WONDERFUL and multicast channels alone
are a strong point in which a broadcaster can add to fill a void in the market such as this!!

Hope this helps!

I am not familiar with the demise of Smooth Jazz in Portland. I'd heard it was gone. Somebody fill me in on why the format failed in a metro area as big (and reasonably hip) as PDX??

As for KKCW running Smooth Jazz on an HD channel, I don't see HD as being accepted by the masses. No one spends the money to put any compelling programming on their HD channels. It is about the content after all.
