Will the Hawk make its move when Stern departs

I was just wondering if WTHK will move its X-mtr into the Philly market once Stern departs in order to grab some of Sterns displaced listeners. What does everyone think. Would Sterns listeners go for the Free Beer and Hot Wings presentation and music selection??

The article in the Inquirer Sunday on what will happen after Howard leaves FM mentioned this, that the Hawk will step up promoting itself in Philadelphia soon.

I'm confused. Why would WMGK pick up Stern's listeners? They're not listening to Classic Rock, are they? I though the majority of Stern fans were Active Rock and Modern Rock fans? I could be wrong about that.

Anyway, The Hawk is really looking for WMGK's audience; not WYSP's. And IMHO, The Hawk is far superior to MGK in just about every possible way.

There are a lot of people who have been listening to Howard since he arrived at WNBC in 1982 or YSP in 1986. While there is a large audience of younger people listening who are active rock fans, Howard has a strong 'older' following too, people who have listened for 20+ years, starting back when YSP played classic rock and most of the guests on the show were classic rock artists. These listeners may tune away from YSP when the show goes off each day. And some of those listeners were converts from DeBella who may go back to him next year seaching for a familiar voice toned down from the Zoo days.

Interesting. I was thinking about the younger Stern fans because I'm in this horrible mindset: Those original Stern fans from 1986 are possibly aging out of relevance as far as advertisers are concerned. Sad but probably true!
